Wild Fires

Are the fires affecting those of you in and around WDW? How about the road's being closed?
My DBF is leaving in a few days and I am trying to help him figure out the best way to get there, and what to expect once he makes it there.

SOUTH GA: I-75 NOW OPEN FROM VALDOSTA TO FLORIDA LINE
10 am Mon. May 14: I-75 is now open to motorists traveling in South Georgia between Valdosta and the Florida state line, but could be closed again if conditions warrant. If this occurs, motorists should be prepared to detour or AVOID TRAVEL in this area until further notice. If needed, southbound traffic will be detoured to US 19 via SR 300 at Cordele or to US 19 via US 82 at Tifton. Keep checking this website for updates.

I too am watching this as we will be traveling to WDW in a few weeks, hopefully this will be over by then, but you never know.

Thanks for posting about the Wild Fires, I was wondering about them.
We leave in a few weeks first time to Disney and I was getting a little worried.
Thanks for the link on the closed Roads, DH was concerned and thinks we will have to take a long way around to get to Disney.

We just got back on Friday and we didn't have any problems going down. I noticed on the way back at one of the rest stops that they had signs up that I-75 was closed on down and that was going to affect people on their way down. While we were at the rest stop, the air was thick and it was really dark (middle of the afternoon). After a few minutes of standing outside, we started coughing and had to get back on the road!

from what I read; the fires have only affected the Air Quility in Orlando... the article that I read also stated if drving into the area you should call 511 for all closure information... (the article was on mickeynews.com)
