Hello everyone Id like some information on the Wild Africa Trek in Animal Kingdom. Has anyone done this? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thoughts, experiences, likes, dislikes, is it worth doing, etc... It's myself and my husband, were both in our early 50's hoping were not to old for it and we are in good health. We're looking for something different to do while we're there and this sounds fun. We'll be there the week of April 23-30th. Thank you in advance.

I want to do this too. I have heard really good things about it.

I did this by myself 2014 and enjoyed every minute. I loved it when we fed the hippos n especially enjoyed walking on the bridge while overlooking the alligators below me. I m very very picky on what I do n what I eat n would do this again. Going solo was alright. The food was great I did not care for the hummus or salmon wrap but everything else was great. Enjoy this experience. You also get all pics that are taken by the guides that are with you.

We did this in December and it was really enjoyable! Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and the bridges were a blast. The truck could also get into places on the savannah that are inaccessible to the safari trucks, so we got an up close view of the baby rhino - he was so cute!! The food was DELICIOUS! They also take a TON of photos which are included with the tour. If you like animals and a little bit of adventure - I'd give it a try!

Thank you all so much for the quick replies! I think we'll give it a try!

I would love to try this, but for 3 people it would be so pricey, even with the 15% AP discount

We've done it twice. Both times were fantastic. We really liked the information the guides gave us, loved the food, got great pictures and met some really nice people. We will probably do it again in the future!

DH and I did it in Dec 2013. Totally loved it. It includes photos - the guides bring a camera and take tons of pictures. I thought the food was quite good too. It's not too strenuous although there is a portion where you walk through some vegetation and you have to go over two rope bridges. Looks dangerous, but you're on a harness and it only looks like it's difficult. But you get great views from it and good pictures.

They send guides with you who are knowledgeable. Both of our tour guides were recent university grads: one was a zoologist and one a biologist, both working at Disney with the animals. You visit an overlook above the crocs and above the hippos. They connect your harness into a wire so you can go close to the edge of the cliff. There's someone there who works with those particular animals and who can tell you a lot about them.

After you do that, you get into an open sided truck and they drive you around the savannah of the Kilimanjaro Safaris but they park several times so you can get lots of pictures and see the animals a little closer up than on the Safari. Then they go to a building in the middle of the Safari where you eat. I can't have seafood so they modified mine. The food is made by Tusker House but apparently most of the food they do you can't get at Tusker House which is sad because I had a chicken curry which was delicious. You get this metal bucket that has 6 little compartments and an edible flower and they have juice there. There's binoculars so you can spend time during lunch (or snack) looking at the animals. They include a water bottle that clips onto your harness which you take with you. DH still uses his at the gym.

Yes, it's expensive, but it was a great tour and I'd do it again.

Do you think it would be possible to book it short notice? Like maybe a month before? I might see what the Canadian dollar does, and how the trip budget goes and if it seems feasible book it later...

I've done it and it was amazing. Absolutely worth the price. There are multiple tours in a day so its likely you can find a slot for your trip 30 days out.
