I need to know which of the Wii Guitar Hero's is the best? This will be for a 8 year old boy who has used other peoples and loved them, (not Wii's) and since he's got a Wii (he doesn't know about for Christmas) which Guitar Hero is the best deal?I want to get the set that has the drums, guitar, etc all together, but when I started looking online, there's several different ones to choose from.I called everyone who has them and they all have the Guitar Hero World Tour but there are others out there to choose from but I don't know of anyone who has the other ones. Also, where is the best place (price wise) to look for one.Any help would be great. Thanks

I agree with your friends that World Tour is the best version that's come out so far. Avoid Aerosmith-it's awful-my brother took it back to the store less than a day after buying it and somehow got them to give him almost a full refund (and several of his friends did the same). Since he's 8, I doubt that any of them really have a lot of songs he's too familiar with-so getting him the one that he's played with his friends is probably the best bet since he'll already be familiar with those songs. It's also important to note that several versions of the game came out at first that only use the guitar (no drum or microphone play).

As far as the best place to purchase it-I bought all of our pieces separately which helped keep the cost down. I bought the game on a one day special from Microcenter for $25. I bought a guitar on amazon right before Christmas for only $5.00! The drums and microphone we got from redoctane.com for $50 on a one day special.
Amazon has the whole kit right now for $99.99 with free shipping http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Hero-World-Wii-Deluxe-Nintendo/dp/B001ABP8BO

There's a family-friendly Wii BEATLES-themed Rock Band edition that will be released on September 9th! You can pretend that you're playing at the UK Pavilion in Epcot. :rotfl2:

I think there's also a special value edition coming out that does not use the Beatles-branded instruments, but it includes the game and regular instruments.

I enjoy playing Wii Rock Band and Wii Guitar Hero World Tour! :thumbsup2

With the astonishing 1 to 6-player feature option (it allows up to three singers, along with the drummer, lead guitar & bassist!), I think this Beatles version may be the best one yet.

For the Wii, DEFINITELY buy the Guitar Hero set. You can then use them for Rock Band games. The reverse is not compatible (can't play Wii Guitar Hero with Rock Band instruments). It's the only platform this is true for, weird I know.

I didn't know that about the guitars. Thanks.

We have two versions of Guitar Hero but the lyrics and graphics are really for older kids and adults, not 8-year olds. (Ratings-wise) I would check with the nephew's parents first to see if it's okay with them. My kids only knew two or three of the songs on either game, so GH might not be a great choice. Just saying.

Rock Band is a lot of fun to play, but it requires space to use the instruments. I like the song selection, which is a nice change from the wailing guitars of GH.

There's also Wii Music which uses the standard controllers instead of instruments. It's fun for kids to play because it's simple and very upbeat. It encourages creativity, which my kids love. They can make their own "Mii videos" and change the instrument sounds. However, older kids would dismiss it as babyish, especially if they've played Guitar Hero.

We have rockband 2 for wii and it is lots of fun. My 9 year old nephew loves it, though he doesn't know many of the songs. I know that with guitar hero world tour you do need a wii-mote (remote) for every instrument and with rockband you don't. Sam's club has had good deals on both games.

Actually the guitar that comes with guitar hero world tour is different than all the other Wii guitar hero guitars. It has special notes for solo's not available on other Wii GH guitars.

It also comes with the Drums and sticks, a microphone and the game, and the guitar.

We were lucky and bought ours when it was first released for $89.99 with a free itunes $15 card, a t shirt and a circuit city video game club membership valued at $20 turned out to be worth $0 since they went bankrupt! I think we still got a great deal though.

I know that the full band is more difficult to get so if you can find it I would snap it up.

Also be careful when putting the drums together the cymbals wires can be pulled out easily ( ds did that because he thought they needed to be tighter-nintendo replaced them :) )

Guitar Hero World Tour is being discontinued, at least that's what the guy at GameStop told me. I wanted to get one, we ended up just getting Rock Band since I really didn't want to pay for shipping etc.....

Ohhhh the Beatles one sounds interesting - can I use the Rock Band instruments for it?

Can't remember which version it was but they had Guitar Hero with the Guitar at CVS this week for $49.99.

Lego Rock Band is coming out I think in November which is suppose to have more kid friendly songs.

We have Guitar Hero World Tour (it came in a package with the guitar, drums and microphone). My family really enjoys it. You can make your own characters and customize the face, hair, clothes, and instruments.

Our only issue was that you need a remote for each instrument (including the microphone) if you want to use them all at the same time. We only had two remotes, so we would just do guitar and drums, or drums and microphone, etc and keep alternating. My parents bought DD another remote for her birthday, so now we can use all three at the same time.

My brother bought them the aerosmith game, but we've only used it once or twice.

The Beatles one is from Rock Band. They are releasing limited edition instruments with it, but yes you can use the regular Rock Band ones too (or the Guitar Hero ones).

You should definitely look into the cross-compatability of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. I wound up buying Rock Band (first version) last Xmas and was under the impression that the instruments would work with the Guitar Hero World Tour game as well (as told to me by a game store employee.) Well, they do not and it turns out after using both sets of instruments that we actually preferred the Guitar Hero guitar and drums over the Rock Band ones.

I know there are gaming websites out there that will detail what instruments work with what games and as the additional versions come out I think they are more compatible with each other. Good luck!
