Now while I'm no athlete, I've always considered myself reasonably fit.

With my Karate training twice a week and a wee bit running Im in no bad shape.

Or so I thought........

Now Ive never really got Yoga (I'm more a sweat on the brow work out kinda lass )
but after trying the Wii Yoga I bow in respect to any one who does it !!! :worship:

Muscle I never knew I had are screaming every step I take.

That said I did enjoy it ,maybe once I can actually move again I might just give it another bash ..................!!

I agree. Many of the exercises on the WiiFit, if done correctly, can be very difficult, and very painful (especially the next day). Of course you can always "cheat" if you want to, but if you really try to do them correctly they aren't that easy. The balance games are a lot of fun, and don't cause any special aches, but the rest of them can get you. And the funny thing is that you want to do them. Nintendo found a way to make hurting yourself a lot of fun. Go figure.

Ha Ha your not wrong.

Im gonnae try and stick with the yoga because I think it will help with my Karate.
Just better stock up on deep heat !!

yoga is no joke.... you'd think just holding different positions/not moving wouldn't be that tough.....

got a 90 minute yoga workout that's part of my workout routine.... first time I tried it (figured it would be a piece o' cake) I was toast within 20 minutes.... took a few runs through it, but eventually built up to making it through the whole thing...

good luck with it :thumbsup2

No kidding.

The first time I ever attempted the Shoulder Stand pose, I threw out my back. I didn't realize how bad it was going to hurt until the next day when I could barely get out of bed.

I've also thrown my shoulder out playing Wii Tennis.

So it pays to be careful. :)

I love yoga. Sometimes I go with my dad to his yoga class. It is 90 min and after the first 15 I am ready to leave, but I always feel good after :)

It really shows that different exercises use different muscles.

Ok....legs are better.

Gonnae give it another go !!

OMG, Yoga! It looks so easy. Like it isn't even real exercise.

HA!

Is this part of Wii Fit? I've been dying to try yoga- I need something that is easy on my joints but will work my muscles....

Mermaid02--yes. There are about 20(???I've never counted) different yoga poses. Some are very easy (Yoga Breathing, Crescent Moon, Cobra) and some are a bit more challenging (Tree, SHoulder stand).

I can't wait to start Wii Fitting... the kids are getting a Wii for Christmas so I made DH buy me the Wii Fit!

Thanks for the warning. I bought Wii Fit a month ago, I guess that's why its still in the box untouched :)

Yoga looks easy, and I do love it. That said...I went to class Sunday, new teacher...she was talking about expanding a pose...it seemed easy enough, I did it w/ no problem...my hips and back are still sore. I adore yoga, it makes me relax, strengthens my muscles...but it is not for babies. I love it because I'm always pushing myself, and in the year I've been doing it I have a new awareness of my muscles...but it is much harder than a weight work-out.

Until I started yoga I didn't know it was possible to work up a sweat standing still. Now that I know I love it! When I started I could literally feel my posture improving... no rounded shoulders for warriors!

But if you're just starting remember the wise words of my favorite instructor. Don't push yourself, know your limits, but keep working toward perfection; if you fall out of a pose just take a breath and get back in... and breathe! It's all about the breath.

I don't know if I'd call it harder than a weight work-out. Both ways of working out depend on how much effort you put into them. There is one big difference though. If you are pushing too hard doing a yoga exercise, and you fall out of it, or can't go on, it's not that big of a deal. But, if you are pushing yourself to your limit with weights, and you can't go on, suddenly you might find yourself looking at 200 pounds that are coming down on top of you rather quickly (thus the importance of a spotter). In fact, I would say that it's easier to "cheat", or not give it your all in yoga. with weights (especially free weights), you really can't cheat.
But like I said, it really depends on how much you are willing to put into it.

I agree with OP about giving your all but its more about different exersice using different muscles.

As I said in my original post I am reasonably fit.
I go to Karate training and i work my butt off - Squats, sit ups, push ups, running and well generally gettin smacked about.
I come out done but I have never felt as sore as I did with the yoga.

Lovin it tho and gonnae keep it up.
