I just came across this today.....

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/061129/entertainment/music_australia_the_wiggles

Looks like Greg is a lot sicker than was let on. I may never get to see the original Wiggles together in concert... :o(

I hope that whatever he ends up doing is best for him and he knows how much of an impact his work has had on so many children and their familes.
All the best Greg.... you will be greatly missed!

Oh, no, I was hoping it wasn't really going to be official! I am so upset by this, my son just idolizes Greg and has mostly worn his yellow Greg shirts for the past couple of years. I love his voice and he seems like such a nice guy!

For those of you with kids who are fans, are you going to tell them?? How? I am almost thinking of not doing it... I know they have a new series that hasn't been released here yet, plus at least one more DVD, so that could take a while before anything with Sam is released. We just can't go to any more Wiggles concerts. :sad2: I am so upset about that, but I don't think I could watch without Greg there.

Best wishes to you and your family, Greg! You will be greatly missed, but had a wonderful 15 years!

I'm sad to hear about Greg's departure. :( We were lucky enough to see them last year. I am glad to hear that his illness is not life threatening at least.

I know Sam will do a good job, but I think they should give him a different color shirt and retire Greg's yellow shirt.

I think you have to be honest with your child. Greg isn't dead, he's just having to retire. I've lived through the death of Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street as a child myself & Steve going to college on Blues Clues with my kids & we all did OK with the news. These things are a part of life.
Yes, he's going to be sad about Greg not being with the Wiggles anymore but from what I've read, Sam has done the part for the past few years as an understudy & Greg seems to feel he will do fine in the role.
There is a video of Greg talking about his illness & why he's having to leave on the Wiggles website. My kids are a bit past the Wiggles age at 6 & 9 but they do know the Wiggles so I let them watch it. He 'passes the torch' so to speak to Sam by giving him the yellow shirt.

Oh, I know he isn't dead, and part of me is kind of happy that at least he will now be able to spend more time with his own kids since he spent so much time on the road. But I though I hate to think of him being restricted to bed, as one article said, geez, he is the same age as my dh! But, I just don't think I can watch someone else singing and filling in for him. We have all of the old out of print cds and videos, so we've seen them progress from when he was only 19 years old and 'grow up'. And Eric won't watch when Sam is singing the songs he sings on the videos, he wants Greg, so I know he would not go for seeing him wear the yellow shirt!

You know I watched the video on the website with my kids- it has Greg handing over the shirt to Sam. It is a tear jerker for the grown ups - him not able to do the job he so loves because of physical restrictions-But my kids were kind of ok with it all so far. They say they can still watch Greg in the videos- Better go out and get that Wigglesdancing one...

That is so incredibly sad, glad to hear it isn't life threatening though. Does anyone have a picture of Sam Moran? I can't picture him.

Lesley

I was diagnosed 4 years ago with the same condition he has. While not life threatening, in it's most severe form it can be completely debilitating. It was most likely caused by the surgery he had, and for him that can be good news because most people who are affected after surgery slowly improve with time.

Lesley,

There is a video of the Wiggles press conference that shows the new Yellow Wiggle. Go to the link previously posted: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national...4777697973.html

Then under the main photo, there is a section called: Other related coverage. Click on: Video: The New Yellow Wiggle.

I was fortunate to take my son to a live Wiggles concert in 2002 and he loved it! Seems too expensive to take my DD now though.

My four year old is still upset that rolie polie olie isn't on anymore. I remind her we still have the dvds and she perks up. Same thing with the Wiggles I guess. When Steve left Blues Clues I was way more upset than the kids. I felt like my friend was leaving, lol.

OK, someone tell me I'm not crazy, isn't Sam the same guy who plays professor Singalottasonga? I saw him with the Wiggles on Regis and Kelly and he had the same voice and looks just like him, minus the facial hair.

Yes, that is Sam!

So no more Prof Singalottasonga? Sheesh I need a life! :)

Well, Paul Paddick (Capt. Feathersword) was the original one in one of the older series, so maybe he will reprise his role? (Yes, I already know I need a life!!)

I didn't tell my DS3 much, but I had to tell him something because he notices EVERYTHING!! He heard on TV that Greg was sick, and I just told him that it his sickness just means he can't dance and sing anymore and Sam was going to start wearing the yellow shirt. He has had a couple of little questions but is satisfied with my explanation.
