I have an iPod touch...will I be able to use APPS in the parks? I am trying to debate whether or not I should pay for the line APP, etc. before I get there.

THANKS, in advance, for any advice you can provide!

No Wi-Fi in the park. And not in most of the hotels either.

I personally want to see how much longer my touch battery lasts without running wi-fi on it.

No wifi in the parks but....
I've used my iPod touch paired with a Verizon mifi card to create my own wifi and it worked fine.

Thanks!

I would love to get a mifi, but my husband already thinks that I have 'digital drama' so there is now way in the world he would entertain that! LOL

Thanks for the info, I won't even bring my iPod Touch if there isn't WiFi!

NO WI FI and I bought so many apps and could not use ONE!
They say you can use them over in areas in Epcot and Swan and convention hotels, otherwise, useless, SUCH a shame ...DIsney is SO behind the times....in this regard......

Hehe, I still bring mine in case I need to make notes like showtimes or where we parked. The Apps that don't require WiFi are also nice in long lines.

A co-worker and his family just came back from WDW - his wife took her iTouch and he said there was wifi at and around the Firehouse at MK, and in Innoventions at Epcot. However, he said it was nowhere else that they could find.

That being said, I know there's an app that will tell you where the nearest wifi spots are.

I thought I'd read that wifi is available but costs $4.99 in the parks & resorts? Is there free wifi in certain spots?

Internet access is 10.95 per day wired or wireless.

Some resorts have wireless in their common areas. I have also heard the its more in the "convention hotels". Otherwise its wired in the rooms.

There have never been consistent reports that you can find open wireless in the parks. You may find a wireless signal but its a secure network for the CM's.

Some report they find one but its most likely some sort of glitch in Disney's network.

You can also loop around FW and try to connect to a wireless router that campers have setup for their site.

As for Disney being behind the times, many hotels still charge for internet. The ones that don't use it as an extra perk to get you stay there. WDW doesn't have to so they don't.

I would also think that Disney would rather you be immersed in the magic as opposed to checking your email, surfing the web, etc. Hotspots throughout the resort would not be difficult. If they wanted it, they would have it.

I'm going to do my best to use my iPhone as little as possible. Not going to happen but it is a nice thought.

Another vote for Mifi here..they have prepaid ones if you don't want another contract.

I'm very interested in this, never heard of one that could be used for an i pod touch. Can you tell me a little bit more about where to purchase (without contract ) and how much?? Is it a card? Could you use for the touch and also for a laptop? TIA!
