Hello all,

I've seen that onsite wifi is $10/24 hours.

I have a 3 mobile wifi dongle on pay as you go.

Could I get a US sim card for the dongle and use that rather than pay the WDW rates?

2 weeks away from work and i'll have to to check my mails alot!

I asked this a while ago and no joy, still searching for the info. Will let you know if I find anything.

we jsut used the disney internet and did alternate days so it didnt work out that much

thre are a few places with free wifi you can use,we go to panera bread (loverly food).would do a search for hot spots
Onsite near to virgin megastore there is a hot spot, its from one of the shops think the magic shop.we would pick up wifi there for emails using our psp.but it may have gone not too sure
Now as dvc free internet not a problem.we getting an adapter to make our own wifi spot for our iphones in room
If paying its a 24 hour period so you can get 2 days from each conection,if you see what i mean

I have one of these, about size of a pack of cards.

Just plug into a wired hotel connection and it turns it into a wireless hotel room, used it in a few places no problem at all until we tried at AKL last year, would not work.
I have been told since that it should have worked so will try again in August at OKW, hope it does then all 3 of us can use our laptops together instead of fighting for the 1 connection.
This is one of the main reasons we stay offsite because of poor internet access onsite, if we have to pay $10 a day at least it should be a good service all all of us be able to use it, connection in AKL was not great even with just 1 connected.
I bought the travel router off Ebay about 2 years ago for £20 delivered brand new, discontinued now, don't know if there is newer version around.
Anyone wanting one just watch ebay, this recently didn't sell for £9 delivered

I have mentioned before that it amazes me that Disney still make a charge for internet. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel, airport or coffe shop and had to pay a specific charge to access the internet.
As we always stay off-site in villas it is never an issue as they all come with free internet and PC - and most now have Wi-fi. It never ceases to amaze me how much we use our laptop when away - whether its for uploading pics for family and friends, checking emails or just looking online for park opening times etc.
How did we ever manage in the days before computers?

I just read on anopther thread, that the McDonalds near the All Stars has free wifi. Wish I had known..we paid at Pop, and I just had to check my email, since we were there for two weeks. I would have gladly had a few salads at Mickey D's.

This page seems to have some clues, you have to buy a talk time sim first and add data to it.

About $45 for unlimited for a month. Might be stuck on 2.5G rather than 3G though.

Also, depends what dongle you have. I'm looking for a payg dongle deal at the moment.

3G beats wifi for being truly portable, you can use Skype to have a UK number all the time too.

I have the black 3 huwaii dongle. Looks like a USB key.

I wonder if they get locked like mobile phones do?

That's my concern whether they lock them or not, mine's the white 3 version.

I think I could probably unlock it if I tried being a geek but part of me wants one bought in America to give me the best chance of a good signal. 3G has the same band differences across the atlantic as phones do and not sure a lot of the UK ones work at full speed in the US.

I looked at some cingular ones and they are $250!! My 3 one was £50!!

If we could find something cheaper and you're not going at the same time as me (9-25th May) then I'd go halves with you.
