Wifi and alternatives

I have 3 vacation rental properties that I own and manage. I do it all remotely from my phone but it requires me to be pretty available all the time in case an issue comes up for a guest.

I've heard wifi on cruises can be pretty spotty. How is it on Disney cruises (I am sailing on the Magic)? If it's unreliable, are there any alternatives that can be purchased and brought along? I'm thinking something like Starlink but that isn't available yet, is there anything else?

I'm sure other people have cruised that have to be connected for their jobs, what have people done to manage that?

Wifi can be spotty and is expensive. $89 for 1,000 mb which you can go through fairly fast if you leave it on during the entire cruise. Who is your carrier? Verizon offers a 50 mb package for $20 and when in most ports there is a package that is $10 a day for phone data and text. If you have an Iphone I messaging usually works independently once you connect to the ships internet for the app.

Yes I have Verizon and an android phone. I assume the verizon package only works in ports?

I also need access to wifi for my business when I cruise.
I use this mobile wifi hotspot:
https://soliswifi.co/pages/solis-lite$140 for the device + usage, either by day or month. I pay $99 for a month when I travel.

It works great when at or near a port.. but doesn't when you're in the middle of the ocean.
In that case you need to use the ship's connect@sea which as the pp said, is expensive. And slow, and spotty. But it's better than not having anything and you definitely need access to the internet for work.

I think Starlink will be a game changer when it goes online globally and accesible thru a mobile hotspot.
Elon said a couple more years for that to happen.
