Yesterday out shopping. My wife enjoys men sized watches and was wearing a very hard to find wrist watch. Has years long waiting lists to buy new at MSRP. Rarely offered to walk in buyers even if in stock. The gentleman asked did she want to sell it. She said $10,000 was a fair price and that she was thinking of selling. He wired the money on the spot. It was strange. You never know what’s going to happen. We met he and his wife later for dinner. Met some nice people. Turns out he’s a well known business man in Orlando. I had heard of him before. But didn’t know it was him at the time.

Wow! I retired in 2015 and haven't worn a watch since. I'm from the mind-set that just doesn't get the whole high end collectible watch thing. For those that do, more power to you and enjoy what you can. We all have our over the top items we enjoy (i.e., Drums, Disney). I will admit though that I have recently gone down the rabbit hole on youTube and stated watching vids on watch repair, etc. Extremely fascinating. What kind of watch was it? Rolex, Timex? Might be a good youTube vid to watch late at night,

I had some approach me out of the blue - at a gas station - to buy my car. He as in a similar one, said he had been looking for one like mine. Didn't know it was so hard to find! I declined since I'm a second generation owner and it has sentimental meaning to me.

I say - if it worked out and she got what she wanted for it, and she wanted to sell it - why not!?

I'm a watch wearer, too. Just one though, I don't collect!

Did you think the price you would have accepted would be taken as an insulting joke? Obviously if he offered you the right price you would have taken it. It was just that your price was way above the market value because as you say it had sentimental value.

I don't know - never considered it. Didn't want to sell the car, so we never got so far as $$$$.

Yeah ...my daughter had been waiting almost a year for her Ford Bronco and she fianlly picked it up a few months ago. But, she got a call from CarMax a week later asking if she was willing to sell ..they offered $6,000 more than she paid PLUS the cost of her taxes to register it which was over $3,000. She turned them down!

She didn't counter and ask for $15,000 more than she paid for it?

No ...she wasn't selling(although I might have). It's the first vehicle she's bought on her own, so she wouldn't consider it. Besides she was locked into a great rate and as it turns out she probably would have had to wait 1-2 years for a replacement. I'm trying to order one for myself and Ford isn't even accepting new orders -they were supposed to open up in February but that doesn't look good. I might be waiting 2-years....🤷‍♂️

We told our guy in August about a truck we wanted, he ordered it in October when they took orders. Looks like it will be in sometime in March, hopefully. I ordered another truck from him last week, and Ford accepted it - I even got the email from them confirming it. I was told 12-20 weeks. I only ordered it because #1 I didn't need it right away, and #2 for once I wanted to pick a color out and not have to take whatever white/black/grey vehicle that was on the lot.

That’s about what we were told. Have an order in for 5 Mavericks. I’ll be happy if 3 show up. It’s challenging times.

Maybe ten years ago someone stopped at my mother’s house and offered her $9000 for the tree in her front yard. They were building a big house in a town north of hers and they wanted established plantings.

Someone should tell that guy he can save a lot of money by using his phone to check the time.

Especially 200 meters underwater...oh wait, that won't work with a phone.

There's many reasons to own a classic wristwatch, mostly it's like jewelry, a fashion statement but there's also utility outside of what we have on our phones
