My daughters are playing in a srping training softball tournament in April at the WWofS. We'll be spending some time there watching them play. Are there any interactive sports activities, ie football, baseball or video games at this location for my sons to play? Also how is the food at the All Star Cafe there? I heard there were lots of tvs for watching.

Has anyone done the softball tournament? I think we are scheduled for doubleheaders. I'm hoping they have a time limit on the games to keep things on schedule. Did your daughters have fun when they played?

How exciting for your daughters. I haven't been to the Wide World of Sports. However, I'm going to give this a bump back up and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

The WWS has a full range of "hands on" activities -- there's whole "challenge" area that will let them play football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and more. It's called the Multi-Sports Experience.

The Multi-Sports Experience is included in General Admission to the Sports Complex. (Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to sign a waiver.) The Multi-Sports Experience is an interactive sports playground that will challenge guests in an exhilarating variety of activities, encompassing many sports including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer and volleyball.

At football camp, you will test your speed and agility as you make your way through an obstacle course for a timed score, attempt to kick the game winning field goal over the defensive line, and run an actual pass pattern while experiencing the speed and power of a pro quarterback pass. Move swiftly between the defense and receive the pass that could give your team the winning touchdown. At soccer camp, you will test your ball handling skills and participate in a pick-up game with your fellow athletes. Play half court street basketball at basketball camp. Choose from a standard 10-foot rim or an 8-foot high rim for smaller competitors. In addition to training camp, you can go back to basics at the playground area, which includes a shaded picnic area.

Thanks for all info of the activities! Sounds like my sons will have a blast as well. What hours are the activities open?

We went to the All Star Sports Cafe years ago and had a good meal and a fun time. Sat in a table shaped like a baseball glove. Sports stuff everywhere! We also ran into Tara Lipinsky on our way out! Just said a few words though and didn't get an autograph!

It varies, depending on when the events are happening on the fields. You'll need to call Disney to find out about your specific tourney days.

We're staying at ASSp as that's where the team is staying. Although I'm hoping not to be right with the team to give my teenage daughters some space! As a family we've stayed at POR twice and loved it! We know it will be a different experience at ASSp but it will be fun for the rest of the kids in the family. I'm hoping someone who's done this before will post some experiences as well! It's hard to find info about WWSp and the youth sports activities there.

We always visit WDW in July - same again this year - and the only disappointment is that it is out of the basketball season. I had no idea that WWS/Multi-Sports Experience existed. Does the basketball continue at WWS throughout the summer and is there mixed standard levels? 15 y.o.DS plays at u16, national and international (european) level and by July, suffers out of season withdrawal symptoms. Is WWS worth a visit and would DS find a game where he wouldn't feel out of place?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are no "pick up" games of basketball that I'm aware -- all the activities are of the "competing with yourself" variety. There may be a group of kids who find each other on their own and get a game started, but the activities at DWWS are not like walking into the Y or anything like that. When it says basketball "camp" it's like saying that when you go on Star Tours you're learning to be a Jedi pilot. The area is a theme park attraction more than anything else.

rgray...My daughter played softball at WWS in April of 2002. We were at
Buena Vista Suites. We were there for about a week and played 5 days with one day off. We played 7 games in all which included two double-headers and three days with single games. Most of our games were scheduled for 8 am because we had booked so far in advance we got the best times. They were 7 inning games. I can't remember if the games had a time limit, but I do remember other teams arriving and having to wait for us to finish playing.

The only time a game was stopped was because of a thunderstorm. The girls had a ball that day. We all ran over to the building where the basketball games were held. Lucky for them there were a whole bunch of high school boys playing. You should of seen the look on the faces of those boys when they saw all these girl softball players watching them.

It was very hot and humid when we went. After the double-headers a lot of the girls wanted to hang out by the pool. We had two 15 passenger vans for the team and some of the parents who didn't rent cars. Luckily my husband and I decided to rent a car so we could come and go as we pleased.
We would head over to the parks after my daughter took a quick shower. As she put "I didn't come to Disney to sit by a pool. I can do that at home!!"

On our off day we went to Universal Studios. That was a fun day because most of the team decided to go.

I hope this helped a little. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

was there enough time to enjoy the parks we are going with an 8 year old team that is more excited about disney than playing baseball LOL. we have a 3day tounament with at least 3 games to be played. most of the families are planning on extending there stays do you know if the park tickets can be used after the tournament because they only offer a 2 day 2 park ticket with our package not park hoppers?

nygrl...We had the old 4 day park hopper passes that never expired. If you have the new Magic Your Way passes they expire in 14 days so that would give you plenty of time to use them. I would check with the person who is making all the arrangements to find out what kind of WDW passes he/she ordered.

Whether you have time to enjoy the parks depends on what times your games are scheduled. With only a 2 day pass and 4 parks to explore makes it difficult. You would probably do better upgrading you tickets to more days or picking only one or two parks to go to.

Hope this helps a little.
