Thank you so much for the tip! We were not nearly the first people through the turnstiles (within the first 50-60 maybe?), but walked right up to the gas hose (rope drop). My twin boys (age 6) and I just went right up to the CM motioning us to the left and got right in frontnext to him! (so the farthest right possible)

Important observations:
1) Red really is the key here. If you are on the left you cannot move into line for the ride effectively. The RSR CMs take the first people to the line from the right side. We were within the first 10 people on the ride.

2) If one of you gets separated from your group, you need to meet up before you get to the loading area. They will not let you wait for the other person(s), and they won't let you go backward in the line. We discovered this because DH never listens to me and was easily 50 people behind us (but that is a whole 'nother thread haha). We were told we either had to ride or get off.

3) The FP line fills up quickly. I got in line at 7:28 (had to wait for pokey DH to get off RSR), and was past the entrance on the outside row (not the row closest to the hedge of It's Tough to be a Bug).

Was this on an early entry day? Does this work on a non early entry day? Still deciding on whether to go for FP line first or not. :)

It was today and is was EMH. I think the strategy for the ride would be the same but the FP would be much longer.

My return time was 9:10 with the FP I mentioned in the first post.

How long did it take you to get that Fastpass once it started moving?

PS My DH would be the same as yours. He never listens to me about these things.

The line moves very quickly because they have CMs at every kiosk pulling FPs for you. Very smart!

I've seen a lot of people refer to the Wide Right strategy, but I missed the actual explanation of what it is.... Could someone explain it to me, or point me in the direction of the discussion that explains it? We are going at Christmas, and will need all the help we can get!:crowded: Thanks!

Hope it helps! :thumbsup2

I did this on a non EMH day and did the far right technique and then went and got a fast pass and there wasn't a line anymore. It worked perfectly. I would say ride it first if your first in line and then go get a fast pass to use at night!
