After reading and looking at the photo's in the "Photo Sharing: Ultra Wide Angle " I would like some suggestions on where to find a UWA for my for my Sony A100 that is reasonable priced. Would also like to know how much of a difference there is between a UWA lens & a adapter that you would use on the end of a lens.
I'm by no means a professional photographer but I do try and use my setting instead of shooding in auto all the time.

You mention wanting a reasonably priced lens - do you have a budget in mind? The ultra wide's tend to be a more expensive lens than many others. If you are willing to buy used I'd look at KEH which currently has a couple of options for the a100: the Sony 11-16mm and the Tamron 10-24mm. Lenses I've gotten from KEH have always more than met my expectations and they do allow returns if you are not happy with the item. Another option would be Ebay although there most likely won't be returns allowed and while I've had good luck there I have gotten one dud.

Dyxum has a selling forum that might have what you are looking for. It is also buying from individuals so that will depend on your comfort.

I would like to keep it at $300 or less.

Thxs for the KEH website, I checked there but did not see any for sell.
I will keep checking back at KEH maybe something will turn up.

I have had good luck with the items that I have bought off of E-Bay so far but I know that my luck will run out one day. It's the chance everyone takes.

Dyxum is also a good site, just need to figure out how to navigate around in it.

Thxs for the help:)

Actually KEH has 3 for sale, but they aren't under $300 - the two Sony 11-18s and one Tamron 10-24 are there now.

I have used the Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5 on my Sony A300 and Sony A550 for years now, and love the lens.

$300 will probably be difficult for an Ultra wide. Here's links to the pages with one's available on KEH but the lowest priced one is the Tamron at $399

And here's a link to the Dyxum buy/sell forum: http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/sell-buy-equipment_forum7.html

At the moment all I see is an overpriced Minolta 11-16mm but other's pop up now and then. I actually have a Sigma 10-20mm that I've planned on selling and we're keeping the Sony 11-16mm in the house. I think. The Sony came with DH's A100 but I already had the Sigma. Decisions decisions. Either of those are good lenses too if you run across one at a price you like. I personally tend to like the colors produced by the Sony lens over the Sigma but it's a smaller range so there are trade offs.

Good luck with your hunt!
