I've seen from time to time that people around here have gone to see this broadway play. It is coming to a theater near me soon. The tickets through the actual theater have been completely sold out, but I can find tickets on places like CheapTickets or Encore. They are running $150 each for the cheap seats. Is this for real? I've seen Cats, Miss Siagon and Phanton and never ever paid nearly that much. I refuse to pay $600 for 4 of us to go to the theater for a few hours.
Without being nosey, what did you pay?

I'll be there. :smooth: Thanks for the invite!
They will be here a few months after we move. :sad2:

I paid $160 total for 2 tickets (service charge included) in Pittsburgh. These are in the director's circle (first 5 rows of the balcony).

We go next Friday here in Chicago. Mom sprung for the cost as a belated B-Day present to me. I think it was $240 for 3 tcks.
Can't wait to go!! Girls night out!! :cool1:

Come on little missy....just PM me your information for the loan application because I would have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it. Throw in dinner and parking and I'll need to win the lottery :lmao:

Our group paid $85.00 (or really close to that amount) each for 2nd level 3rd row seats at Kennedy Center. Our view was great.

But I do believe the lower seats were originally like $150 each....

It really is an awesome play though......

I would even suck it up and pay that....but I guess at this point, I'll just read the book. I wonder if it would be cheaper for me to fly someplace else to see it :rotfl2:

DH bought me tickets for Christmas to see it on Broadway in March. He paid $75 per ticket for mid-mezzanine, but I know that the orchestra seats are much more expensive. I'm actually sitting here right now listening to the soundtrack. I love the music and can't wait to see the show!

The book is actually quite dull. Wait, not true, but the last third at least was a bear to get through. The musical is *based on* the book, but some key elements of the stories are not the same.

Taking my dd to see it in Boston in April. Paid $90 pp (taxes/fees incl) for MezzR..row L. My girl friend decided about 2 weeks after the tickets went on sale that she wanted to take her dd the same day/show as me...ladies type thing. But, nothing to be had through 'normal' channels. She had to use her sister's ticket broker and evidently paid through the nose. She paid so much she won't tell me what she paid!!!! Of course, she did end up 2 rows in front of us, in the exact same section!!!

We ended up in the back couple of rows of the theater, and it was a big let-down since from there the views of some parts of the stage are obstructed. I'd rather pay a bit more and get the full experience.

I living in NYC, we would see a show every 3-4 weeks and always planned ahead, never having to buy from a ticket broker. We saw Wicked twice and sat Orchestra for around $100 a seat. However, I would pay much more for tickets to Wicked! It blows away the 3 shows that you've seen.

I paid $75 a ticket through the box office for "cheap seats" (aka "bad" seats). The good seats were $88 but they were sold out.

We paid just over $200 for 2 first teir seats in DC. The seats were very good.

It's not cheap. Most broadway shows aren't.

I saw it on Broadway last fall with my DD. Orchestra seats, but row z. Still the same price as closer ones. Those were $100 apiece.

And we just saw it in Tampa (review posted Wednesday). Also orchestra seats, row s (again, same price as closer ones). Those tickets were $79.25.

In both cases, I bought directly from the theater. NYC I was charged a ticket fee. Tampa I wasn't.
