Hey peoples! I've finally decided to create a Wicked Thread where people can chat about the show. I'm seeing it next weekend and I'm already obsessed and know what happens! *BEWARE OF SPOILERS!*

I really enjoyed it! As a matter of fact, it is right up there with Aida as my favorite.
I would love to see it again, and probably will at some point soon.

Yay! A Wicked thread now on the community board! I love Wicked, I've seen it 5 times. I've had the chance to go backstage and meet Idina Menzel (original Elphie), and see her last performance (the one after she fell through the trap door and broke her rib). Both incredible experiences. Wicked is a wonderful show, with a great message, and I'm glad other people here like it. Oh, and have fun next weekend BouncingTigger :)

I have tickets to go the first weekend in May and I can't wait! I've got the cd memorized and I read the book (but can tell that the show is different!). I don't completely know what happens but I'll know soon!
I love Aida, too-my local community theater is doing that this summer-I can't wait!

"Wicked" rocks! It's by far my favorite! We've only seen it once in Chicago but we hope to see it again. DD12 and I LOVE it! DH and DD10 aren't so into it, though. My only problem is that I don't think I can EVER watch "The Wizard of Oz" again!

I've never seen it, but want to SO bad. I first heard about it here on the Dis and starting researching it. I waited for tickets to go on sale but they sold out! I started the minute they went on sale too. *pout* Hopefully, someday I'll get to see it. I've never been to any big broadway production though. I'd settle for almost anything.

I've seen Wicked twice.... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

First time in DC (with friends).....Second time in Philly (with DH and DD because they pouted so much about not going in DC.

I will say I thought the DC cast was better and I will freely admit to crying like a baby during "For Good". Then again everyone else around me was sniffling too. (Didn't get that same feeling in Philly.)

I'm working my way through the book and boy it is way different than the play. We also have the second book "Son of a witch" but I wanted to read the first one before skipping ahead.

Call me a dork but I love to wear my "Defy Gravity" gummy bracelet. Very important saying that has been keeping me going through a rough time lately.

I got to see Wicked 2x when it was in Pittsburgh. It is sooooo worth the $. I listen (along w/ my kids) to the soundtrack all the time. I got to see Stephanie Block's (Elphaba) last performance - and it was a tear jerker during "For Good". I can't wait until it comes around again. :maleficen

I just saw the show last night in Boston and it was fantastic! I read the book last year and HATED it, so I was very relieved when I heard others say the musical was much different. The book was way too graphic and political for me, I had to force myself to finish it, and only did so because I can't not finish a book once I start it. Everyone was right, the play was very loosely based on the book, and while it had an important message, it was still light hearted and fun.

I especially loved Galinda ("the GA is silent") :teeth:

I just saw it in NY on March 22 and absolutely loved it! It was a Christmas present from DH. I had wanted to see it for a long time and when he got me the tickets, I went out and bought the soundtrack and knew every word by heart by the time we went to the show. I thought the soundtrack had given away most of the story but there were still some wonderful surprises that you don't hear on the soundtrack. I think you will love it. Enjoy!

That was the best show ever... I am now an avid Julia Murney fan..I even sent in my playbill for her to sign since my mom ran out of that theatre so fast you would've thought that it was on fire. I also don't think I'll ever be able to watch the Wizard Of Oz again, not after seeing the show and reading the book.

We just bought tickets to see it in Chicago. Can't wait! I don't know if I want to read any more of this thread as it may contain spoilers.

My husband took me to Wicked in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. It was awesome!!! :Pinkbounc As for spoilers - KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT PEOPLE! At one point I (and many others in the theater) literally let a gasp out, I was so surprised. I loved the end. :)

ITA! We saw Wicked last month on Broadway and I was SO glad I had not read a spoiler about "this" part. I, too, was surprised. Wicked is wonderful! :maleficen

I haven't seen the show yet, but I'm absolutely in love with the soundtrack. Can't wait to actually see it!

I loved this show! I've seen it three times, once with Idina Menzel, and it became my all-time favorite! I would fly all the way to London just to see her as Elphie again if I could afford it!!! Have a great time, OP, at the show!

Saw it in Boston and LOVED it so much had to take my daughter for a 1 day to NYC to see it there. We both loved it. She and I wear our shirts all the time and so many people stop and ask about the play. We highly encourage everyone to see it.

It'll be back in Boston in Fall of 07 and I plan on going back.

I want to be POPULAR!!!!
