Its finally here!!!!! I'm fifty! 5-0! halfa century! 5 decades!!!
I made it!!!! This body may be 50 years old,but my mind(...and Karen) keep sayin' 20 somethin'! I hope mind and body never meet or there'll be wicked trouble......
We're up early so we can get to Epcot in time to ride the Segways!!! How wicked cool are these things!!!!!!! We go to guest relations and of course Karen makes sure I get my Birthday pin so I can be reminded ALL day that I'm 5-0. Whateveh......
There's a group of 10 that will be riding and I look for Chad
and Nathan,2 DISers that will be riding this morning!! We all have name tags on so I find them right away. Its always a little weird meeting people from the internet,cuz you don't know what to expect. Chad and Nathan were great!! And Karen and Nathan
shared a common interest---both teachers!!
The instructors,Lamont and Linda were awesome! The first hour or so was instruction and practice . The first thing we do is put our helmets on. These things make everyone look goofy,no way around it. Linda shows us how to step onto the Segway. This looks easy,but ..... we ALL do the "Segway dance". If you take this tour,you'l know what I'm talkin' about!!
Pretty soon we're all doin' good------except Karen,who is really makin' me laugh!!!! This is payback for laughin' at me on Thunder Mountain!!!!!!! The instructors have put orange cones
on the floor that we are suppose to weave through. Karen has managed to ride over quite a few of them AND,can't control her Segway!!!! Who's laughin' now!!??!?!???
The intructors have decided to bring us outside which makes Karen totally freek and me laugh,cuz I know Karen is either going to run over a person or run herself into the lake!! Poor thing,she's so going to kill me.....
Linda intructs us to follow in a row BEHIND her until we get to World Showcase. There are people around and it could be dangerous. Well,all of a sudden,Karen,who is in front of me and right behind Linda, BOLTS ahead of EVERYONE yelling HELP! I CAN'T STOP THIS THING!!!!! Linda takes off tryin' to catch up with her to instruct her in how to slow down. At this point,there are tears rollin' down my face cuz I'm laughin' so hard!!! I can't see!!!!
Finally,Karen is stopped and we catch up to her and Linda, who was so good at keeping Karen calm(we later find out that Linda was freekin' out when she saw Karen bolt by her!!!).
This was so much fun! If you get a chance to do the Segway tour,go for it!!!! We spent an hour riding around WorldShowcase.
After the Segway tour,we met Aisling,her other son and her mom who was a wicked riot!!! What nice people!!!
We head over to Mission Space to get FP's and then over Test Track where there's a wicked long wait,but I use the single line with only a 20 minute wait!!!! Excellent!!! While I'm standing in line I notice a lot of families with young kids in the line too. I'm startin' to think maybe I got in the wrong line.....
As we get to the top ofthe line I hear the CM telling people in my line,"remember,this is the single rider line,you will NOT be sitting with your family!" As the family in front of me starts to board the ride,the 2 young kids(maybe 7 and 8) start to panic and reach for their parents,who are asking to be put in the same car. The CM tells them "sorry,you put yourself in the single rider line,please use the exit if you can not ride separately". The guy was po'd and really gave the CM a hard time saying its a ridiculous rule!! He made his kids(one crying) get on the ride!!!!
What's wrong with people!!!!!!!
I actually sat next to a 6 year old who absolutely LOVED the ride!!! She never made a sound the whole ride while I screamed like an ol' lady!!!! She told me it was her 5th time and she was going to go on it again!!!
Now its time to ride Mission Space. I was so looking forward to this! Of course,Karen was a little worried she'd get sick. I convinced her to ride it. It WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O-M-G!!!!!!!!! All I could hear was Karen screaming!! Which of course,made me laugh so much I thought I was gonna wet my pants!!!!. There's that payback again for laughin' at me on Thunder Mountain!!! I can see how people could get sick on this ride. Its very intense,but really good!!!!!! What a thrill!!!
After all these rides,we decide to eat lunch. It starts to storm out and we realize we only have one stinkin' poncho!!! So we both get into it!!! Why this made us laugh so much,I don't know but,it was like we were buzzed!!! I think it was from all that spinnin' in Mission Space.........
We had so much fun in Epcot! We both like this park and it never gets too crowded which is nice....
Now remember,I have that Birthday button on,so everytime I stopped at a cart to buy water(remember ,I ditched my mulepack and brita bottle after 3 days at WDW),I got a couple of free ice creams ,popcorn, and cinnamon pecans!!!!! How cool is that!!!!! I love free stuff....
We head back to the Dolphin for a quick swim and its like a different hotel. The conventioneers have landed. In a BIG way....
The whole flavor of this resort changed and not for the better. Lots of drinkin and smokin' where ever they felt like it.
It definitely changed my opinion about staying here again.
After hangin' at the peeool we got ready for dinner at Spoodles. We loved this place!! We had great food(steak and Salmon) and we drank "Blue Spoodles" that were really good!
The waiter brought me a birthday cupcake and the WHOLE restaurant sang Happy Birthday! What a great day!!! I'll never forget my 50th birthday! Spending it at WDW was awesome!
Tomorrow is our last day !!!
