Hello! Just curious how the wi-fi has been in the parks lately. On past trips I recall the wi-fi not working great so I just stuck with LTE. Have there been any improvements? Is it even worth giving the wi-fi a try this time around? Thanks!

When I was there in August the Wi-Fi was great. However keep in mind certain factors that will give you some trouble such as, some indoor spaces (like rides) won't let you get Wi-Fi, and certain areas in the park that are highly congested with people (like the Hub at MK before fireworks) will affect the Wi-Fi.
But overall I had no complaints, granted I was trying not to be on my phone as much as possible so when Wi-Fi wasnt working it was a good chance to put the phone away and enjoy the park.
I haven't used cell service at WDW for several trips. There are the occasional dead spots; occasionally I had to reconnect (although that seems to be less and less required). And, yes, indoors spaces do often cut off wifi especially if you go deep inside (e.g., Space Mountain, Test Track, TSMM, Haunted Mansion after the stretch room, ToT in the "basement"). But for the most part, I wouldn't bother to use a data plan anymore (esp. since I have to use expensive roaming).
The wifi works great except for using the mde app. It's very spotty and half the time won't load the wait times. When I usually use the mde app I turn off my wifi and use data. Anything outside of the app, it works fine

I don't have too much problem with using the MDE app with wifi but I usually only use it for checking on FP times or changing dining. For wait times, I use Lines (Touring Plans) as I find that their wait times are more accurate. I have had to occasionally reconnect to wifi which then requires me to re-login for MDE.
Echo, echo, echo! I can't echo this message enough.
I exclusively use wifi and had no problems in the parks in 2016 or 2017. I rely on it for Pokémon Go (you know... for the kids) and for get new Fastpasses. I rarely have an issue or find dead spots.
