Why would they change costumes at the American Adventure?

This just seems crazy. Why would they want to change costumes from what they have now to more modern ones. Whoever came up with this idea must of had to much to drink.

I think there were complaints by the cast members about the old outfits being hot and not fitting well. There was a long thread on it like a month ago.

I agree...are they out yet? I heard on WDW Today that they would be like flight attendant uniforms?!? :confused3

Thanks for the link Dan. Those new outfits are ugly. I cannot believe they would change from the beautiful outfits they have now into those Hideous things. Can you pitcher the Voices of Liberty singers in those outfits.

1) Color me severely disappointed.
2) Yes, the old costumes were a pain.
3) But, they could have been remade with better fabric.
4) Disney is not known for good costumes (ask any CM).
. . . badly fitting
. . . usually cut 1/2-to-1 full size too small, or worse
. . . made of nasty fabrics
5) For just a few bucks more, Amer Adventure could have great costumes.
6) And, ones the CM's would like to wear.

NOTE: IMHO, the new costumes for Amer Adventure look ugly. What
significance does and "airline-type" costume have with the pavilion ?!?!?

Am I the only one who looked at those designs and thought, "Wow, those look just like Soarin's costumes" ? :confused3

I heard that management read some surveys that indicated smoe guests thought that World Showcase was outdated, and thought new costumes would change that perception. The only CM's I've heard discussing the costumes prefer the historical ones.

There's an interesting conversation on another thread about the Canada pavilion, with some commenters saying they don't feel that the CM costumes there are representative of their culture. So there may be some of that going on.

This pavilion is so specifically set in one place in time that I can't see how this is going to even look right. Unless we're introducing time travel into World Showcase since these outfits look like old-school flight attendant garb.

I am not thrilled with the new choice - it looks too airline-y. I thought the Colonial costumes fit the theme of the pavilion so well. Is the CS restaurant changing costumes as well? They sort of go together . . .

And if the problem was CM discomfort, I would think that the costumes at Liberty Square in MK would need to be adapted too. :confused3

The designers obviously mistakenly thought it was the "American Airlines" pavilion they were designing for! ;)

I can't come up with anything more succinct than yuck!

I would expect the CMs who wear those costumes to say, "Paging Tom Morrow."

If they wanted more modern costumes why did they design something from the late 70's early 80's.

They don't go with the theme at all.

Those new uniforms are awful! Talk about ruining the whole feel of the American Adventure with those modern uniforms that just don't seem to fit!
I love the feeling of being immersed in a whole different time period than the one I live in and this will really kill that feeling. :confused3

Ugly. Boo Disney! Someone made a very bad decision. :crazy2:

Disney seems to be losing touch with its guests! Who could think this is a good move?!

1) Ah-Ha !
2) Just learned some info.
3) THIS IS A COST REDUCTION MOVE !
. . . cheaper to make costume
. . . cheaper to have several sizes
. . . cheaper to repair/sew costume
. . . cheaper to launder costume
. . . cheaper to maintain (no pressing)
. . . cheaper to store (less shelf/hanger space)
