why would a program I uninstalled keep coming back?

I saw the light about downloading and uninstalled limewire. This had to be a couple of months ago. It reappeared once and I accused DD#1 of reinstalling it. I uninstalled it again.
DD#1 just got back from a week-long mission trip. She got on the computer and asked me why limewire was back? I went to add/delete programs and there is was, and it said it was used today! The other kids have been working with dad and I have been cleaning.
What is happening? What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again? I uninstalled it again, but I don't want someone somewhere accessing my stuff, although I never had sharing enabled when I did use it.

Even though you uninstalled it, you might need to delete the registry keys manually in order to eliminate it completely.

I can't help but my MIL's computer had this same problem qith limewire and now the computer won't work at all. She has someone coming in next week to try and fix it. My nephew had been using limewire and she has been trying to get it off the computer for weeks. It just keeps coming back. Good luck.

You had better run a virus scan and something like Ad Aware to clean up your system.

I don't know what limewire is and do not want to search for it and be infected myslef, but it most certainly sounds like malware of some sort.

Take Lanshark's advice and run Adware or PCSafe - and keep it scanning on a schedule.

DO NOT take one of the other poster's advice and delete registry keys, unless you absolutely are 100% sure you know what you are doing! You could seriously make your computer inoperable. If you are so badly infected with malware that you cannot delete something, have someone who has experience do it for you - even if you have to pay them!

This pretty much is the ONLY way to remove it from what I understand....but unless you know what your doing follow the other posters advice and DO NOT touch the reg. keys!

AdAware will do nothing as Limewire IS NOT adware, spyware, or a virius!

You can probably contact LIMEWIRE and they could walk you though the stpes of removing it.

A GOOGLE Seacrh for "Uninstalling Limewire" broght back... 259,000 replys
I can probably get hlelp that way too!

Because it loves you. You know, "If you love something, set it free..." :)

Sorry, wish I could help.

Limewire doesn't really use that many registry keys. and it doesn't have a reinstalling application you can trace back to your registry if you know where to look.

someone reinstalled it on your computer manually.
