Why Won't They Bring Back the "Electrical Parade"?

anyone thinking of planning a DL trip this year, head on over to the DL board! With the 50th celebration around the corner....timing will be everything this year!

I am sure it will return to WDW.
After the first run of the MSEP the MK was packed for the so called "last performance" of the MSEP. They said "going away for good". Well in true Disney lying fashion they brought it back for a time while they "updated" Spectro.
I also remeber ME stating "Fantasia will never be released on DVD."

Thanks, DisneyFan09, for posting the words! Now I need to memorize them.

Judy from Boise, I'll be over at the Disneyland Board -- as soon as I get done planning my upcoming WDW trip! (2 weeks!)

ELP is amazing....It wouldn't surprise me if it headed to Hong Kong in about 1 1/2 years. It was at Paris several years ago and was than "going away forever" We read of it's final weekend in the newspaper and my DD asked to go to Paris NOW and spent the weekend crying that she couldn't see ELP. As you all know away forever didn't happen so I am sure it will find its way back to WDW some day!

Personally, I love it and miss it greatly. My cell rings with the ELP music, we play it in the car at night and we have our own ELP which we play with music from the Disney Classics Collection,

What is the history of the ELP? I know it played a LONG time in Disneyland. Did it play a LONG time in Magic Kingdom as well? If so, aren't there two sets of ELP floats? Couldn't they show it in say MGM at night and keep Spectro in MK?

I will never forget the first time I saw the MSEP at MK on my first trip with my parents in 1982! I can still hear the music. There was something special about it. It was such a new concept at the time. There was nothing else like it. The other parades are very nice but MSEP has alot of history and a very long run. It would be nice if they would bring it back from time to time.

..old charming sites, rides or events (ie:MSEP, COP) in favor of new thrill rides because they think that this is what the public wants! I can not begin to tell you how many people favor thrill ride venues (IE:IOA) over the nostalgia and hominess of some of the old favorite rides offered at WDW. I am afraid that when I have grandchildren the WDW that I love may not exist. Bring back MSEP!!! Keep COP open ALL the time. "Old" is not a prejorative!

My husband (who is a very serious tough type guy) grew up with his mom a waitress at the Contemporary when WDW first opened. He had very fond memories of the parade as a child.

We were at WDW in 2001, and the Electric parade was showing again at WDW. It was raining, and we were waiting for the parade by Pecos Bills. The lights went off, and those magical words were said, and I turned to see my husband's face, he had the biggest grin I think I have ever seen, just like a kid again! That is the kind of magic that parade had for him as well as my whole family. None of the other parades have ever compared! I hope they bring it back to WDW soon!

Ok, ok. I can see you feel very strongly about this. I am not trying to compare the MSEP and the EWP. In fact, I have never even seen the EWP (but plan to this trip). I said that the EWP won't substitute for MSEP but the OP might still enjoy it. That's all I'll say about that as not to get jumped on again.

Not jumping on your case, just having a lighthearted jab! Once you see the water parade, you'll understand what I mean.

I am headed for DL in January and the Electrical Parade is one of the reasons I am doing so. It has been my favourite parade since I first saw it in the late 70's. Sure the Spectro parade is okay, but that first light of the EP just sends goosebumps up and down my arms.
It would be great if DW brought the parade back, maybe soon so lets keep watching that Rumour board
:cool1: :cool1:

Another Main Street Electrical Parade fan here! I grew up seeing it and was sad when it went away. Thankfully, we caught it again in 2001 and then again last summer at DCA!!! :cloud9: I love it!!

Sorry to all you Spectro fans out there, but it doesn't seem to do it for me like MSEP! I've seen Spectro a few times too! There were some dolls on the floats with funny lit up faces that always freaked me out. :earboy2:

DW & I saw the ELP at DCA in '03. That music IS WDW to me!

THey brought it back in 2000-2001. It was the only light parade Iv'e evr seen. I loved it  !

I am so glad they have Spectromagic, I thought the Electrical Parade a poor substitute.

I LOVE SpectroMagic! That may be because the last time I saw a Disney Parade was on my trip in 1992 when I was only 5 and I was sooo amazed by it. Every time I watch the video of that trip we have a lot of SpectroMagic and I absolutely love the music "On this magic night, a million stars will play around us. Cast a spell of light - glimmering shimmer carouselling Round the world tonight - A symphony in SpectroMagic. Pure enchantment lights our way!" Lmaoo how sad is it that I've watched that tape so many times that I know the song by heart, lmao! The only other time I was at Disney was when I went with schoolin 2001 when the Electrical Parade was running but we skipped it. I love SpectroMagic!!

I'm in agreement with those that said it probably depends on which parade you saw first. I've never seen the MSEP, but I've seen Spectro a few times... and I love Spectro. I just don't think I'd like MSEP as much, having listened to the music, but I'd jump at a chance to see it and compare.

They already destroyed "The World Of Motion", as well as "Horizons" to be replaced by thrill rides which I can't ride as I have vertigo. QUOTE]

WEBMD defines vertigo as the sensation that you or your surroundings are moving when there is no actual movement. A feeling of spinning, whirling, falling or tilting. Nausea and vomiting can occur if the sensations are strong enough and you may even be unable to stand until the feeling passes.

Obviously every ride at WDW, be it the late "World Of Motion" or the current "Test Track", moves. Some rides are faster than others, some go upside down, some spin. It seems to me however that it is not vertigo that is keeping you off the "thrill rides".

I don't enjoy riding the tea cups or the Rock n' Rollercoaster because the spinning and looping upside down make me feel sick. This is caused by real movement, and not the imagined sensation of vertigo.

I really love the MSEP, I've seen it at WDW, Disneyland Paris & California Adventure. I like Spectromagic just as much though. :D
