Why,why,why

I just checked out of curiousity and found availability for Sep 19-26 at ASMo and ASSp, although ASMo only had preferrred.

We'll be there too!!!! I was bummed about seeing all of the Values being sold out,and was wanting to change our dates to 9/11-9/21:rolleyes1 I kept asking DW if we should change weeks, but she kept saying NO!:confused3 So now it's too late to change-don't want to take chances with our ressies(90 days is up:rolleyes1)!! The reason my DW did'nt want to change was because of Hurricane Season-MOST storms seem to be a problem for The Gulf Coast in mid-late August and early-mid September, hence ,our dates of 9/18-9/28.Hopefully no Hurricanes bother anyone this year, and we all have Excellent trips!!! Being "DIS'RS,we have a definate advantage over those who don't utilize "our" site. Any hoo let's all stop worrying about the crowds, and remember how fortunate we are to be going at all!!:goodvibes

Not all Georgia schools are having fall break. Where we live fall break is the middle of October.

Where we live in Georgia, they aren't even doing fall break anymore...we had it the last two or three years but it was in October...this year our school district has discontinued both fall (October) and winter (February) break.

Are the values really sold out, or just free dining rooms at the values are sold out? big difference. There are only so many rooms per resort for each promotion. So while there may be no free dining rooms left, there may be value rooms still available. FWIW the values do sell out during free dining, as do the mods .It does not mean the crowds will be heavy

Don't panic...it will still be the lowest crowds of the year. The best way to avoid the long lines is to utilize AM EMH and fastpass. It would help too if you have park hoppers. We are going 9/23-9/29 and according to the crowd calendar the highest crowd level is a 7 on Saturday. The rest of the days are 4's, 5's and one 6. It will be awesome!!!!!!

Thank you Georgian's and those who have checked availability for chiming in. People can cause panic when they don't have 100% accurate information. I'll admit, after reading the OP's statement, I was like "NO!". lol

Excellent point.

I also wonder whether Disney may be planning on doing some rehab at All-Star Movies and hasn't announced it yet. Movies is the Value resort thought to be next in line for a major rehab like the one Music got recently.

I tried to "book" 9/18-9/28 without 'free-dining"and ALL the Values are booked;that being said,ALL Mods/Deluxe have availability.:goodvibes

I'm in GA. Gwinnett County Public schools don't have the week off. It must be only a couple of school districts.

We went last year at that time and the crowds were fine.

That doesn't mean that every night from 9/18-9/28, ALL values are sold out for every night. That just means that every value resort had at least ONE day unavailable to be booked and most likely it's one of the Saturdays with overlaping vacations, vacations that end on the 20th or begin on the 19th... same with the following weekend.

:confused3 We're going the 18-25 and I have noticed lots and lots of people are going this time, too
I don't know why this is the case--it's not like that's a magic week or anything. We're pulling the kids out of school.

Actually I got my info about GA fall break from my brother who happens to live in GA......... and I got the info about the values being sold out from WDW.......... So yes my info did come from accurate sources:headache:

The Sept/Oct timeframe is nice with great weather and okay crowds. This year with free DD and MNSSHP and Epcot's Food & Wine Festival , it's going to be crowded! We will be there 9/16 - 9/30 so we will hit all of it while we stay at POP. This will be our 3rd straight year down there at this time. We like it and will continue to do it as long as we can.:thumbsup2:surfweb:

I'm going from 9/26-10/3, which is the end of free dining and the beginning of the F&W fest, and I'm a little nervous it will be more crowded than last year (I went 9/21-9/27-beginning of the F&WF, but I don't think there was free dining), but whatever, I'll deal with it, I'm going to be in my favorite place in the world how bad can it be? :rotfl:

Ya know, Disney has been running the free dining promo during September for the last 3 years now, and every year, people on the boards panic and say,"Oh, it's going to be SOOOOOOO crowded! EVERYBODY on the boards is going that month! All the restaurants are booked! All the resorts are booked! It's going to be a nightmare!"

And every year, the September crowds are no worse than they were without free dining.

Sooo true!

Also, the trip will be what you make of it. If you start to worry about the crowds 90 days out you'll drive yourself crazy! Hope for the best, plan for the worst and just have fun!

Like I've read on these boards a million times: A bad day in Disney is still better than a good day anywhere else! :goodvibes

Focus on the positives!

Actually, Disney has been offering free dining since 2005, so this will be the fifth year and the crowds have grown quite a bit since before they started offering free dining. Before free dining, you could reasonably say that the parks were dead or empty, but not anymore. There are plenty of people in the parks. When we've gone for free dining in September I would say the crowds are more medium-ish than low or empty. But, that doesn't mean that they won't be manageable. Just get to the parks early and use Fastpass and it will be fine.
