But it seems that lately "Holiday tree" has lost popularity around here. Why, even the biggies, The Rockefeller Center tree, and the White House tree are still called "Christmas tree". I don't remember having heard the term holiday tree this past Christmas season.
They should do away with all Christmas trees and holiday trees and just go with a Festivus pole in every town square.![]()
Probably already been mentioned, but having to show my license to buy 15 allergy pills and then return to the store every 15 days to purchase more so I don't have to be without it is the WORST. I wish my doctor could write a prescription.
As my 23 years as a nurse I could count on one hand the number of times I've given Tramadol. I was surprised it was a controled substance....because who takes it? I totally agree with you. It's not just pain meds. It's benzos, antidepressants, pain meds etc. Can anyone get through life anymore without popping a pill to make it easier. It's very hard for Doctors because hospitals get reimbursed by patient satisfaction scores and addicts aren't happy unless their getting their Opioids. They always teach us pain is what the person says it is, but it's so easy to tell who's really in pain and who's not. I'm not saying some people don't need long term pain management they do, but there's just as many that like the high.
I have a brother who's had multiple back surgerys and actually has chronic pain. He's very successful in his career, Ivy league graduate, makes a lot of money and so on. He had a heck of time weening of the Oxycontin. He was physically addicted. It can really happen to anybody.
I currently take Tramadol.I was prescribed Tramadol after major surgery last year. I think it was because I am allergic to codeine.
It is really the government that won't want to let you into the building. Kroger doesn't really care.Or worse, not being able to buy enough cold meds for the entire family because that would put you over the limit. What are we supposed to do if everyone is sick at once and the kids have to take a different kind than the adults? And both adults need a different kind. Kids can't buy their own because they are under 18. I'm surprised that Kroger's still lets me in the building.

And buy "too many" won't get you arrested. It gets you investigated.
Either way, it is sad that buying cold medicine has become what it has become.
Boy do you have an interesting viewpoint on modern medicine. Can anyone get through life anymore without popping a pill to make it easier.
To beta blockers, insulin, chemo, supplements, etc?Boy do you have an interesting viewpoint on modern medicine.
Do you take any medication ever? I'm meaning from ibuprofen to nyquil to antibiotics.

Some people take pills daily to actually alleviate pain not because they are just taking the easy way out so it's been implied.I took the statement to mean popping pills daily as opposed to the occasional need and I do agree to a point. We love to pop pills instead of look at prevention or more holistic treatments. I think we should treat instead of prevent things like diabetes and high blood pressure. The pharmaceutical treatment isn't always the best yet it seems to be our society's default for every ailment.
All merely my opinion.

As far as holistic..while I don't see any harm in people choosing that option simply put some things just can't be 'fixed' or effective pain management in a scientifically proven way. Besides no one should be shamed because they opted for medication over a holistic approach as your comments do sorta imply.
I tried the whole deal with the pain, remove caffeine during that time period, heating pads etc approach to period cramps. I decided that for me to go to work, school, and you know move instead of being on the ground in a fetal position for days at a time throwing up too because the cramps were so bad, it was perfectly ok to take ibuprofen (tried pamprin and midol as well) for several days at a time when needed in combination to a few of the things listed above. That I suppose was making my life easier but I don't care I guess. A girl I was friends with in high school her parents didn't believe in most medications. That was their choice and fine by me but she was consistently sick (and much sicker than I was from a simple cold) for well over a month at a time throughout the school year. All power to her but I would have hated feeling and being sick for so long a good majority of the time because I didn't opt to take cold medicine ever. On that point different people different reactions for sure in terms of body health.
As to the PP's statement they phrased it as "get through life anymore without popping a pill to make it easier." We take many-a mundane things in our lives to make it easier thus why I asked if they've taken a simply pill like ibuprofen or nyquil, etc. We also take serious things in life and it's not simply to make our lives easier but to survive (unless the suggestion is to just let those people die off). To equate medication in general as making life easier is by far a mass generalization thus my comments.
Me too. Allergic to anything that is related to Tylenol/Codeine etc. I pretty much take Advil only now, because it is safest. Many things have some sort of acetaminophen mixed in. Even when you tell people you're allergic, they prescribe, and you're at the mercy of the pharmacist to catch it. I used to be prescribed something called Darvocet when I had major dental work or a surgical procedure, but found out a few years ago that they discontinued it because it was being abused by people as an opiate. So now I try to deal with most pain, dealing with side effects or allergic reactions are so much worse.I was prescribed Tramadol after major surgery last year. I think it was because I am allergic to codeine.
I have a lot of pain from ms and pills are the only thing that helps. I don’t see it as taking the easy way out, I see it as the smart way for me to be able to function on a daily basis.
The most common thing quoted I think regarding gift cards was money laundering and fraud. Target stopped allowing entertainment gift cards to be bought with a Target gift card. It wasn't just Disney gift cards impacted.I've resisted asking this question from the beginning, but my curiosity is getting to me.
The premise of the thread is about things that are no longer available because others abuse them. Your first item on the list is not being able to buy Disney gift cards with Target gift cards. I presume that is about the stacking of the discount that was being recommended to save money on Disney trips? I don't understand what the reasoning would be otherwise?
