Why was I charged for dinner shows?

I am on the regular dining plan for our trip next month. I have gone to dinner shows before and they took my credit card info. but it was not charged until the date of the show, and since I always use DDP credits, I was never charged. For this trip , I booked online for the HDDR and the Poly Luau. I indicated that I had the dining plan but both shows came out of my checking account today. Is this normal procedure now? I am assuming I will get credited back when I pick up my show tickets but it doesn't seem right that WDW is using my money for a month. Has anyone else had this happen?

This seems to be a problem now with booking online. If you call the reservation center, tell them what happened and they will credit the money back to you and you'll still have the reservations.

Please call and tell the dining reservations line what happened so they can credit you your money back - don't wait until you get there.

so who do they charge if you dont show up ..I think that we had to do the same thing last year....

Sometimes the system doesn't recognize the DDP on the reservation. It will then attempt to charge your card as it would for anyone else instead of simply taking it as a hold. This is noticeable at the end of the reservation as it will give you a balance due (or at least it did before the "upgrade").

You should call the dining line and ask if they can credit it back. There is a handful of CMs that can do so without canceling the reservation, but it is not something every single one of them can do. You can also see if they can rebook you, but don't allow them to cancel the first reservation until they have already booked the new one. If neither can be done, then you can get a refund when you pick up your tickets.

This is why I despise the online booking for certain things. Disaster, IMO!
Call & get it credited back to you now, rather than waiting.

You were charged because you booked online. The online system doesn't always recognize the dining plan, even if you link your resort reservation. At this point you may not be able to get it credited back unless you cancel the reservation and make a new one. The time and date you booked may not be available for rebooking.

You need to make any changes by phone, so you can ask them if you can just get a refund on the reservation. Apparently sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't. Make sure you don't cancel the old reservation until you have a new one booked.

They deduct those TS credits from your plan if you don't show up. Also, as an fyi, you have to pick up your tickets to the show in advance at your resort.
