I've seen that many recommend typhoon lagoon over blizzard beach. We loved blizzard beach but have never been to typhoon lagoon. Can someone fill me in on what we're missing? Make our june plans now!

Having never been to Blizzard Beach, but I can tell you what I really enjoyed about Typhoon.

It felt like a real destination to me. The lush, tropical foliage was so enveloping. The lazy river was just so relaxing - it really did feel tropical.

Like I said, I can't say what Typhoon has over Blizzard definitively, because I've never been to Blizzard Beach, but from what I can see of Blizzard Beach, it fits more of the commando type of approach - where the rides are the center piece of the park. Typhoon is more for those who appreciate the details. It's a more leisure type of park.

Hope that helped somewhat! :)

A couple of things about TL vs BB. TL has much more shade than BB, so it is usually a little more comfortable on hot days. But keep in mind that there is a new water slide (master blaster type) opening at TL this spring so that may mean bigger crowds.

We love both parks. If you want more rides, I would go to BB, if you want to relax a little more and just enjoy the surroundings, I would do TL.

IMHO :rolleyes1

Hi:

The one thing I always think about when I think Typhoon Lagoon VS BB is the shark swim. I have never done it and lots of folks think that it is too hyped, but you do get a chance to swim in a tank with little sharks at TL, while BB does not have any attraction like this :boat:

We enjoyed Blizzard Beach a lot, in fact I thought we'd just go back there. We may try Typhoon Lagoon instead now. Does Typhoon Lagoon have anything similar to the Toboggan racers (8 lane water slide, lie on a mat over a few little humps). That was a family favorite at Blizzard Beach, grandma even did it :)

We really enjoy both water parks. It depends on what your family enjoys most. TL has the better wave pool-big waves. My kids love that. BB has more slides -and they are higher and longer than the comparable slides at TL. I also think there are more options for younger kids at BB.

TL does not have the toboggan rides. We went once to BB and ds hated the wave pool. It never stopped. TL's wave pool stops so that you can 'rest' a little. TL in my opinion is more relaxed (laid back) where BB is more action.

For me it's about the theming. Coming from New England that "melting snow" look just doesn't do anything for me. I do acknowledge that BB has the BEST family raft ride, and some slides are better. However, I prefer the lazy river at TL, the gorgeous tropical theming, and my DH loves the wave pool. Now with the new water slide it will probably have too many people! LOL

dgaston, that's funny, coming from Texas we LOVE the "snow theme" at BB. We're not into wave pools. We loved the taboggin ride at BB and the family raft ride. Just not sure if we want to "risk it" and try the more lush, laid back TL....BIG DECISIONS :)

I am glad that TL is getting the new water coaster. I love the water coasters at Schlitterbahn (Spelling) near San Antonio.

I find TL more laid back than BB, but really enjoy both. I think BB appeals to me more if the temp is hot and TL if the temp is a little cooler. It has to do with the thought of the cold snow being more refreshing in the hotter weather.

For us it's all about the wave pool. We spend the majority of the time there. In fact our trip last year was the first time we had ever ridden any of the slides, and I'll have to say BB has much better ones. We love both for different reasons so we'll always go to both!

I haven't been to BB but I love TL for all of their rafte rides. I don't think BB has as many of those.

We liked the wave pool at TL a lot. I agree that BB seems much more 'action' oriented. We all did the shark swim and thought it was pretty simplistic - but still cool to swim in with all the fish...plus if it isn't crowded you can stay in there a bit longer. My girls did love the thing where they hung on to a rope and had to cross over fake icebergs...and the ski lift kind of thing where they came part way down and then let go into the water at BB. To me it felt like many of the things at BB were more intimidating :bitelip: than what was offered at TL.

We like both parks, and have favorites at each - I'm sure Disney did that deliberately so we'd go to both!! The family raft ride at BB is far superior to the one at TL, but the lazy river at TL is SO much better than the one at BB. TL has the huge waves in their pool, but BB has the huge drop (can't think of its name) attraction. I don't think you can go wrong with either!

Pretty sure the 'huge drop' slide is called (and pardon the spelling!) Humunga Cowabunga.
It was WAYYY to steep for me. :scared:

Typhoo lagoon is a bit bigger than blizzard beach, and they have the snorkeling there. My favorite is rudder buster at typhoon lagoon.

I totally agree with whoever said that being from New England, there's not the much appeal to a snow themed water park. I've never been to Blizzard Beach but I'm going to go this time (in less than a week!) I really liked Typhoon Lagoon because of the theme, the wave pool, and it just seemed like it had more to offer than Blizzard Beach. However, I'm sure they're both equally as awesome!

We loved Blizzard Beach, there's a lot to do and it's relaxing too. We live near schlitterbahn and splashtown, so we're regulars with water parks, BB was something different for us, unique rides and unique theme!

I wish I was 5 years old again so I could walk over those little floating ice burgs at BB, they are so cool! (no pun intended). It has been so long since we have been to TL, we will be going there the next time we hit a water park. I do remember that the wave pool at TL is more radical and my memories tell me that the lazy river at TL is better. Does anyone know if they have started using the barcode readers on the unlimited drink dispensers in either waterpark? I heard that the Waterparks would be the first to use the new technology and the resorts would switch over later .
