Why Tower of Terror "4"??

If I remember correctly, I think it is because it is the 4th change to the ride sequence.

Thats what I thought, but what were the other changes?? I figured that I would have remember hearing about them.

drop sequence has been changed for actually the 5th time IIRC...as it changed after the first time but they didnt call it a change. The 4th is when they started to do random drops.

I dont believe anything ever changed except for:

A.) the Drop Sequence
B.) A few extra effects while you're dropping (although these have been sketchy to even see them the past few times I've been on)

I sometimes close my eyes when I go down the elevator at the end. I think it's reflex, so I made sure to keep my eyes open last time and I've found these two:

1. Lightning like lights. It's kinda quick, so you could really miss it.
2. The other is kind of lighted silhouettes of the four hotel guests from the ride.

That's the ones I've caught anyway.

I noticed something different this time when I rode.

There are several different drop sequences, but on a couple of rides this October you thought you'd finished because the screen came at the end and showed some more twilight zone pics, then you were taken back up for another couple of HUGE drops!! That was fun :goodvibes

Just about every two years ToT gets a revision of some sort. Nice ploy to pump up interest. I expect the same type of revision when Soarin' gets a new film where you will fly over Florida instead of the California presentation, and this is just speculation, maybe Oct 1, 2007, Epcot's 25th Anniversary??????

You may or may not see them because these and other visual efffects are part of the "random drop experiences."
Which means there are a different combination of visual effects to go along with the different combination of drop, hold, rise, wiggle, hesitation, etc. elevator motion effects.

All part of "ToT 4" Never the Same Fright Twice!
:thumbsup2

Info from the Backstage Magic tour I took 10/4/06:

Version 1: one big drop
Version 2: multiple big drops ('cause people wanted more)
Version 3: 4 varied drop sequences; the computer picked which of the 4.
Version 4: they now let the computer build the sequence of drops

In Version 4 each ride can be very different depending on the combination of drop pieces the computer picks for that ride.

There are 'dead bodies' on one of the 1st drops too.
I missed it the 1st time we rode it on this trip, but my kids pointed them out to me. Its the 1st rise, in a darkened room area. There appear to be several dead bodies.

I like the new visual effects, with the boken glass.

And the darn thing went up and down like 5 or 6 times. Very Very Very cool!

Gosh, I love ToT!!! :lovestruc

I love when we've gone - and it was easier when I lived in Florida picking "dead days" - and being able to ride over and over and over....

Anyways - the different drop sequences??? SO FUN!!! Never know what youre going to get. :thumbsup2

And for those of you who've done ToT a few times and are brave enough to look out the open window/doors when you get their...look waaaaaay out there, a smidge to the right. You can see Summit Plummet! :rotfl: Makes me giggle everytime. I love it!!! :3dglasses

I've never noticed that . . .probably just because I'm a former CM there, but my eyes always gravitate to the backstage buildings - The one directly across from Rock N Rollercoaster, kinda wedged between Animation Courtyard and all the food places on Sunset, it's the Cast cafeteria "Take 5" (Or as we used to call it, Take 5 then Take an Ambulance . . . not the greatest food, it's run, or at least was run, by Aramark)
