I love CR! I've lost count of the number of times I've stayed there. I prefer the wing to the tower though - it's quieter and you don't have those long waits for elevators like you can have in the tower.
I think the reason people think it isn't as "themed" as the other resorts is that "contemporary" can mean different things to different people. If you look back through the history of the resort, they have changed the decor many times, keeping up with the current (or "contemporary") trends, from the teals and greens of the 70's, to the pastels of the 80's, to the brights of the 90's, to the more subdued colors and furniture now in the rooms. I think there are tons of Disney touches in the hotel. I also think they have the most comfortable beds of any deluxe on property (and I've tried them all). Combined with the larger size of the regular rooms, it's easy to see the advantages to staying here.
However, I totally understand that the theme doesn't appeal to everyone. Neither does the WL theme, or the AKL theme, or the GF theme . . . .There are many choices so there will be something for everyone.
