we are new to the whole renting points, We love the ability to hop on the monorail or boat and go straight to the park. With the ssr and okw it is all bus.I know that some parks are all bus to begin with. We love the wl just hopping on a boat and going right to mk. We are very worried about bus to all places can you give me pros and cons thanks in advance:scared: :scared: It looks like we can save some money by staying at these resorts but my DW and DK are not sure. I do all the planning for our trips and have been looking into the diffrent ways of saving and the renting of points seems to be a good way to start.

We have been traveling to WDW since 1994, from when my children were young.

We used the bus system only once. We find that, depending on the times of year you go, they can be crowded and take a lot of time to get back and forth to the parks.

After standing for 45 minutes with a sleeping toddler, my DH decided we would rent a car and drive everywhere. We began staying at the Contemporary and there is NOTHING like being able to walk or monorail to MK, our favorite park. We even did the monorail trip to Epcot. It took longer than driving, but felt less crowded and less stressful than the buses.

There are some who love the bus system and have had a lot of good luck. If you travel at an off peak time, then you may be fine. But if you want some flexibility, then I would choose a resort that would give you that.

I would rent points at VWL (for MK), or BCV and BWV (for Epcot).

If most of your time is going to be at MK, then you should stay at one of the MK resorts. I love jumping on a boat to go to the MK. Our WDW trips now take is to the MK to see the parade and not much else. Most of our time is at Epcot and DHS or just relaxing around the resort. Buses are adequate (but not fun) but they give us the opportunity to experience other resorts. They are all so different!

well I agree that we should rent from a mk or epcot resort but all are full for our trip. So the okw or ssr was available was trying to talk myself into renting at one of these. But have decided to take the buy 4 get 3 free and stay at bwi. Thanks for the advise. price was only a little more so we will have the convience of the boats and monorail ( from epcot) But plan on taking a bus over to okw or ssr and taking a look

it's a little tricky to take the monorail from epcot. be aware that from BWI, you are entering epcot right around england in the world showcase...so you'd have to walk all the way down through future world and out the front of epcot to get to the monorail. it's a long way... (also, epcot may open later than MK, so you wouldn't be able to get to the MK rope drop.)

take a bus to DTD and take a boat to SSR and/or OKW. maybe grab lunch. you can't use the pools, of course, but you can wander over and take a look to see the theming...

It's all about priorites. Do you want to stay next to a theme park or do you want to pay less points and stay longer? If you stay at BLT or BCV the points are more because of the park access. If you stay at OKW the points are less and you get a bigger room. SSR is in the middle, except for the Treehouses, that's a different story. SSR is accesible to DTD and the points are a little higher than OKW but lower than the other. The complex is huge and gorgeous and is surrounded by the LBV golf course as is OKW.

Our personal preference is OKW. We like the huge 1BR/2BR rooms. The larger whirlpool tub, the newer kitchen appliance and my personal favorite, an ice maker in the freezer. When we stayed at BCV, we had no ice maker. A smaller fridge and the old style electric stove. The stove in OKW was the new smooth top and sooooo much nicer. The big difference though is less points. I won't go in to detail about that. You can look at the point charts and see for yourself. Also, you can get better availability on shorter notice at OKW as long as you don't expect to get what you want during the holiday or generally busier times of year.

Yes the pools are better at BCV, AKV and BLT when it opens but like I said, it all comes down to your own personal preferences.

Just my two cents.

I agree....walk to a park (not my preference) or have more space and comfort. We prefer OKW, and we have always found the buses to be very good. We have been staying at OKW for more than 13 years, and have yet to be disappointed. Also, with the exception of AK, most times we can get to and back from the parks quicker on the bus than the people who are driving and parking in the lots. We have had guests who refused to take the buses too, and we always got everywhere ahead of them, with the exception of said AK.
