Why so mean?

I totally understand what you mean. Sometimes VMK is just unbelievable, but onto a brighter note..

If your cousin would like a teleport or two and it doesn't matter which kind, I have a few pairs of pink monsters inc teleport doors in a store and would be more than happy to gift them a pair or two

believe me you are not alone on vmk all my friends call me cat or meow for short but mostly cat so i named my basball room cats field or something with my nick name in it and a girl came into the room when i was playing the game with my friends and she said you cant title your room cats field and i said why not she said that her friend had the title first and that my vmk name was not cat me and my friends all thought she was crazy so i boot her

Like others said, some ppl can be older than 14. And make fools of themselves, some even do say hurtful/mean things. Someone in the Music game said "what the h###" to me twice. He was gone in a flash!

I've never really had any rare item before, but when I got one extra of the Pirate hat, I kinda changed my stripes. And I realized I did not like that change.

Let me start by saying: I was one of those people that could not get passed fireworks, but through practice I got better and now I'm scoring better than 170,000. So once I got my spare hat, where was the most ugliest and rudest place to go? The Fireworks game. Taking advantage of those unable to beat the game.

I ask if anyone needs a pirate hat, I get into a trade and he offers me all the POTC2 prizes (save the costume, of course). I ask if he has the 3rd pirate pin, he says no, so I say 'sorry' and cancel the trade.

For the first time in this game, I realize I had become the scummy person that I despised: those who had spares of rare items and were very picky about their trade.

Why am I so mean?

I wanted to respond to you because I am sad that you are feeling like you are mean. You are not.

You have realized that when you work very hard to acheive something, it is not easy to let it go. That does not make you a mean person. Please do not feel this way about yourself.

Instead of feeling like you are become "the scummy person that I despised: those who had spares of rare items and were very picky about their trade" maybe you should realize that you have reached a new level in your own player experience. You now have an appreciation for having a somewhat rare item and feeling like you should be able to have something of value before giving it up. Those items are not easy to gift - especially the first time you try to do so. Do not feel like a mean person. Your not.

Try this - try gifting another item to someone who needs it. But this time - try an item that will not be quite so difficult for you to give up. You will discover that you are not a mean person, but someone who is willing to share - just maybe not the stuff that you had to work so much to get.

Try it. Bet you smile.

I'm sorry for anyone who has had an experience with a rude or offensive player. I'm sure we all have. On my very first day on vmk I was sexually accosted by what I am assuming was an adult male after being coerced into my guest room. I am a married woman with a child and the idea of my child or anybody else's being sought out like this creeps me out like you would not believe. It doesn't surprise me though. There are all kinds of creeps on the internet hiding behind masks.

I also have to believe that a lot of the "are you taken" and "shut up" sort of comments are from kids. I'm also not saying that all children are like that but come on, adults just don't go around in real life passing notes with silly phrases like third grade. The adults tend to resort to more malicious behavior, like the experience I had. It doesn't bother me. If I don't like what someone says I just ignore it anyway. Of course there are always, always exceptions to maturity in age, etc. but the majority of adults just don't communicate in that fashion, plain and simple.

I also wanted to comment on the person who felt bad for having the extra pirate hat. I am fairly new to vmk and this is my first "rare" sort of item too. If I had an inventory overflowing with rare items I could understand "gifting" somebody with one but there are a lot more things I don't have and would like to trade for. Don't feel bad one bit. I too have had ridiculous trade requests for my hat, including pirate code items. Nobody in their right mind is going to trade a quest item for something you can easily get by just typing in a code. You are not mean. You earned that hat through a quest and I'm sure since this is your first rare item that there are other similarly rare items you would be happy to trade it to somebody for.

the problem is that 10-14 year olds are on there. Children can be mean and cruel. I've had quite a few be extremely rude to me, one even cussed me out to the best of her ability on there.

i agree.. i think thats its cause many immature 10 year olds who like to tell people what to do without getting in trouble are playing vmk.. and since vmk won't ban you for saying shut up.. it leaves the door wide open to those immature kids to be wel.. immature my theory is that taken bay be etc. were also tarted by these immature children

Mad4WDW- thank you so much for the offer on the teleporters, but another lovely Disboard member has already gifted a pair for me to give to him, and I don't want to take any more than he would need. However, my aunt called me and informed me that he's going to have to stop playing for a while for a number of reasons, and that they're not sure when he'll be back to playing. So now I have a lot of time to try and acquire objects for him while he's gone. I told him I had the teleporters in my inventory for him and he went wild with excitement and can't wait to get back soon to play with them. Thank you again for the offer though.
