I understand that this topic has been discussed at length, but if we are going to become impatient, or worse, indignant everytime someone starts a thread about a topic that has already been discussed then we might have to shut down the boards.
Because the reality is that after 8+ years of following these discussions less and less is actually "new", its just information and questions being asked differently, or about a different resort.
My issue is not with someone who asks a legitimate question. I will answer the same question about how do you get from resort A to resort B or which dining plan is better all day long.
My issue is with people who in some type of passive-aggressive manner ask a question because they want to inflame a situation or needle other owners (because they think their resort is better than the other owners' resort) or make themselves feel better about their own choices by back-handedly criticizing another resort. I have seen that tactic too many times on this board. I am tired of it. If you honestly believe that SSR is too big and doesn't have enough amenities you can crow about that until the cows come home. Start a thread with that topic.
But don't insult my intelligence by "innocently" asking a question thinking it's a way to get SSR haters to come out of the woodwork and tell you and everyone else that the "real" reason SSR has a number of resales currently is because it's an inferior resort to the others.
If you will note, my earlier post apologized in advance to the OP if he or she in fact was asking the question legitimately. However, a little bit of research and looking at the threads in this forum would have brought up this exact same thread two or three times just recently. Therefore, that was the reason I questioned the legitimacy of the inquiry and whether it wasn't just another way to start the "SSR is inferior" discussion all over again.
Again, if the OP really was wondering my apologies--but it might be worthwhile for people to read back two or three pages before posting (since I know the search function doesn't work a lot of the time).
There seems to be way more for sale on this boards' sponsor site. SSR is fairly new, I would think they would have less. Any thoughts?
if we took on your attitude every time a young child looks up and asks why is the sky blue we would say, jeez kid if i hear that question one more time, keep in mind just because something is old hat to us it may be new to others. think of the millions and millions and millions and millions of refillable mug threadsYawn.
May I suggest that you read back on these forums a bit and see that this topic has been brought up "ad nauseum."
And I'm sure any minute all the SSR haters will be here to give you all sorts of reasons why so many people are trying to dump their interests and tell you what a drag SSR is on the DVC community . . . . to be followed closely by the SSR lovers who will defend the resort to the end and tie the number of sales to the size of the resort, the timing of the original sales, the economy, etc. etc. etc.
I bought SSR because it was the best choice for me at the time because I really wanted a first right to purchase Grand Californian when it became available. Having usually stayed at DLR resorts I'm sure ANY of the DVC timeshares will be a step up. I am staying at SSR in just over two weeks and am glad to be doing so. I have also booked at Boardwalk next spring. Again, glad to do so and glad to have the right to do different things at different times.
I really have to wonder about people who constantly need to tear down someone else's choices in order to rationalize their own purchasing decisions.
My apologies to the OP if he/she really was just wondering--it just seems that a lot of the posts that begin "gee, I wonder why there are so many SSR resales?" really are just disguised means of saying SSR must be inferior to another resort and it's getting to be a really old ploy!
