Everywhere I travel I see gasoline prices rising like crazy. They are talking about $3.00 a gallon by summer! Though I see little in the media about the topic. Considering technology allows the oild companies to refine gasoline for just a few cents, someone is making a ton of money. Remember in the past they were always talking about "windfall profits" for the oil companies.

Why can't prices for gasoline go down like consumer products sold at Walmary? Do the high prices bother you?

I live about 5 minutes from an Indian Reservation. No tax on the gas. So I traditionally still pay almost $0.30 less a gallon.

I don't complain because gas is still cheap in the U.S. compared to the prices they pay in so many other places. Maybe higher prices will get us to use less of it.

Gasoline prices regulary go up and down depending on the oil supply and what is in the pipeline. The are increasing right now because of the OPEC threat of decreasing production and because refineries are in the switchover from winter fuels to summer fuels so the supply is lower.

prices are no where near record in my area, gas is cheap in the us compared to other countries and as a percentage of income $2.00 a gallon in 2004 is far less expensive than 1.20 was in 1984

I have fond memories of summer 1997, when gas prices were $0.89/gallon for regular here in New Jersey, and this was FULL SERVICE. Aaaah ... how good I had it.

Well, to put it simply, I don't complain about it because there's nothing I can do about it. Why sweat it and get myself upset when I have no control over the situation?

I don't have far to commute to work, and I don't do long road trips. I also don't sweat a few cents a gallon. What can I do?
I have bigger problems.

I dont complain because I own a diesel, which always runs cheaper than gas in the summer, and close to the same in the winter.

When we go anywhere, we take the truck- $50.00 to fill it up but we get 800 miles out of it...

My cars a different story, but even still- gas here's only 1.64 a gallon...

I agree with those above- why complain, theres NOTHING you can do about it

It's still about $.30/gallon cheaper here than it was a couple of years ago, so it doesn't bother me. And if it does go higher, it's not like I can do anything about it, so why complain?

It's all about supply and demand...

We (mostly) enjoy driving, and it still costs less for us to drive to WDW than it does to fly........

Not only that, but we can't do anything about OPEC, except to maybe invent an engine that runs on water. But then water would get to be the expensive item.

Oh well.........

I paid $2.13 for gas this weekend. Outrageous. I've never seen prices this high before. Every time we've gotten into the high $1's in the past, the government has started looking into the situation and the prices have suddenly fallen - why isn't that happening this time?!? I can't believe no one's complaining. I drive a very fuel-efficient car, but I do have to drive and I can't afford these stinking prices! I can't believe how much money SUV owners must be paying...

I complain about it everytime I have to fill up. I drive 150 each day (75 each way) to commute to and from work and I usually fill up 3 times a week. It is really starting to eat at me how much money I am spending, but what can I do about it?

Nah, on the Debate Board, they're just blaming the SUV drivers. ;)

I HAVE been complaining. I also believe that it is really not necessary for the prices to be this high, much less up to two or three dollars a gallon. I believe what usually causes the prices to go back down is when all the storage tanks get so full the refineries have to lower prices or stop producing the gasoline. I also believe that, since we have control of Irac now, we should start bringing some of the oil here.

I take the train to work, so I don't really notice the gas prices. If I were in the market for a new car, I'd get one of the hybrids.

I don't complain, because I can't change it. I don't complain because I HAVE to put gas in my car to get to and from work. I only drive about 20-25 minutes one way to work, so 50 minutes round trip, which equates to about 45 miles round trip. I get great miles to the gallon. I usually can fill my tank about every 8-9 days, so that's another reason why I don't complain. I miss being on base. Even when prices were ridiculous off base I could get it for no more than $1.19 a gallon on base! At the cheapest, it would be .99 cents a gallon!! AH! I MISS THOSE DAYS!
For me, I look at it this way, why complain about something I have NO control over. I have much better things to do.

I don't complain because there's nothing I can do about it.
I used to live in Europe and if you want to talk about expensive gas, go there, you pay about $7 a gallon right now, and it was always been a lot more expensive.
I don't like it, especially when I pay so much for heating in the winter for propane, but there's nothing I can do.

I paid $44 yesterday to fill my van with middle grade gas.

OUCH Rita! And I was mad about $30 for my van! Muttering the whole time that since Dec., I have put $1300 in repairs into the lousy lemon just to get it to the gas station to pay these prices!
Yep, I grumble, but I am at the mercy of the gas station. I try and cut back on other areas, and I have a blanket in the car to keep me warm whilr waiting to get DS from school instead of keeping the car running w/heater on.
I sure hope the prices start to drop soon!
