Why so busy in Feb?

We moved our trip to June because we also had planned for the first 2 weeks in Feb, and then we found out about the Super Bowl, Cheerleader Competitions, Daytona 500, and Presidents Day Weekend. Not to mention the construction at WDW, it just makes more sense to wait and go during the Celebration.

We'll be there from 2/13 through 2/18 and my only concern about Daytona is that there are some smaller races at Daytona on the weekend of the 12th, so there might be a lot of race fans who go to both weekends worth of races and visit DW during the week.

But a more-crowded-than-expected DW is so much better than a week spent working!

cajunmommy and cindyd, I'm from Louisiana too. We'll be there from Feb 5-12 at WL. All we can do is pack our clothes, drive, wear our Mardi Gras shirts and beads and hope for the best. Look on the bright side, at least we won't be on the road with Saint's fans going to the Superbowl.

We will be at wdw 1/30-2/5 and I had no problems getting ps or ressies. Maybe we will be there before it gets busy. We are definately escaping from the cold. This morning it was 4 degrees out. BBBBRrrrrrrrr! We will be happy to see sunny and 60 in 9 days.

We will be at the WL also. Feb 6-10th....Counting the minutes

We were there one year during the cheerleading competition staying at All Star Sports. Never, never again. The girls were out of control at the hotel. I often wondered where the chaperons were. So many were just rude and obnoxious. The acted as if the pool and food court were there territory and all others beware. Of course my two teenage sons felt totally different about it.

It seems to be a lot going on the first part of Feb. You would think that Disney would adjust park hours to reflect that. Maybe it won't be as busy as we Disers think.

I noticed yesterday that the MK hours on Fri. Feb 11 have changed from closing at 8 pm to a 10 pm close on the WDW site.

Does anyone know what the Dance Team schedule of events is? I wanted to avoid the park that they are having their special events at. I tried to look up their website but it only has last years schedule. I can't wait, two weeks from today and we will be at the VWL for our Grand Gathering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! It looks like Friday night they have an afterhours party at the MK and then Monday night afterhours party at MGM?

From what I have been reading I think it is actually a dance competition that will be there in early Feb. It looks like they will be at MK on Friday night the 4th. Possibly to take advantage of EMH. It also looks like they have something at MGM on Sunday.

We'll maybe I am wrong. I just noticed that no EMH on Feb 4 at MK, but they do have EMH on Friday the 11th. It does say MGM on Sunday though.
Maybe someone who is actually going to the dance competition could let us know for sure.

That's strange. A friend of mine is going those same dates and she said she called last week to make PS's. She was able to get into Hoop Dee Doo Revuu(?). She was told she had her choice of shows and PS because everything still had openings.

The two after hours party would be private events just for the dancers, not an EMH. I looked on the Varsity.com website and the events are included in their package prices. It just didn't say which days the events were. It just gave the dates Feb 4 to the 7th or 8th (the dancers had a choice of 3 or 4 night packages).

Hi, we're a dance family visiting DW 2/3-2/10. We've been told that Friday night 2/4 is the special after hours event at MK, and sunday night is the special after hours event at MGM. Hope this helps with your planning.

Taratink- the only thing better than escaping this Massachusetts cold would be escaping the cold and coming home to a Superbowl win!!!!!
