We are looking at a last minute trip at the end of Sept and it seems like it is really busy for a mid-week Sept trip. Many hotels that we normally stay at are full and those that aren't seem kind of expensive. Any idea what is going on? I am looking at the 24-26th specifically but it's that whole week that seems busy.

I would like to know the answer to this question, too. I've checked the convention sites and there doesn't seem to be anything big happening, but the HoJo has very little availability and has increased their prices during this time period. We planned our trip hoping for light crowds in the parks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things won't be too bad.

There is a HUGE conference at the end of September. It's the National Safety Council. The dates are 9/17 - 9/28 to be exact. I found the information on http://www.enform.ca/home/contact_us

It says that 20000 people are expected. Yikes:headache:

I'm so happy I booked my hotel in June, I was gonna wait.

I saw that conference but it ends the weekend we arrive. We usually don't go to the parks on the weekends and it's the next week that HoJo's is really booked, September 29 through October 3. I know that Gay Days starts on October 4 but we'll be headed home by then.

It says that there is another conference going on from 9/29 - 10/3 but the attendance doesn't look to be that huge?

I can't think of any other reason that your hotel would be booked up. Maybe just because it's the second week into the halloween season and I think it might be the first weekend of MTOTP. Who knows?

How many people from the conferences go to the parks? :scared:

I know when I go conferences in Anaheim, most people bring their whole family and the family goes to the park while the attendee is at the conference.

Does this conference happen evey year? This is when we are considering going next year.

I think the kick off of Halloween Time on 9/26 has more to do with the crowds than the convention.

Darn. I picked the end of September to hit before the Halloween crowds. :crazy2: It'll still be less than Summber though right?

I totally meant to say summber crowds... because its a cross between summer and bummer... yeah, that's it. :rolleyes1

I had a hard time moving our early Sep trip to the end of Sep. The first time I called to book Sep 27th I was told all 3 DLR hotels were full, I called back a later and was able to get PP. I didn't have any trouble getting Sep 28-30 at the GC on DVC points so it seem to be earlier in the week that's so busy due to the convention.

We're staying 28th September-2nd October and I noticed a while ago that we just missed that huge convention so i'm HOPING that it won't be too busy. We always get to theme parks of any kind for opening and head to the most popular rides first anyway so i'm trying not to worry too much :goodvibes I've been to both WDW and DLP in peak season and still managed to get loads done :)

We arrive 9/17. I checked the convention center website and it lists a convention on the 17th. I checked my hotel, Desert Inn, and rooms are very expensive on the 17th, but the next day and friday they drop down to normal prices. I don't think this convention will make a huge difference at DL.

One other factor is the ending of a Million Dreams. Everyone is going to try to get there before it ends.

Plus there are a lot of promotions during that time and people are taking advantage of them, from AP discounts, 3rd/4th night free at the hotels in the area, travel agent seminars, pin codes that were sent out. These will all affect the crowds at this time.

I will be there the same days! :)
