Why should someone go to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party?

What is 'special' about Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party'. Why would I buy a special ticket? I will be at WDW for some of the dates however I'm wondering what the attraction is that would make me want to pay extra for this.
Is it worth the cost? What is included? Why do you go? How many tickets are sold?
Please help me decide.
TIA

There are special meet and greets
Shorter (though NOT short) lines for rides
Special parade and fireworks
A few treat give aways like cocoa or cookies (this is listed last for a reason)

Following. As much as I love Christmas and decorations, this party is not interesting to me but maybe someone can convince me otherwise. I've done MNSSHP and loved it. I will be there this year for the last two MNSSHP and first MVMCP and I plan to do Halloween instead of Christmas party.

We went one night in 2015 and I loved it. Fake snow falling all down Main St (I'm from TX, we don't get snow and my kids LOVED this), hot coco and cookies, short lines to meet characters, the lines weren't as long, the Christmas parade was so cute.

2 years ago we went for the rides and a couple of meet/greets. Last year we went for the rides and parades/shows. Worth every minute.

I have done it at least 5 times and will not be doing it again. They sell a lot (and I mean a LOT) more tickets than they used to. Waits to see characters were over 2 hours this year - and that was shortly after the party started. Cookies - they are not great. Rides - still substantial waits. Considering that you pay $100 to be there, the waits are ridiculous. The parade is nice - but you can see it during the day after the last party. I think that the special shows are beyond hokey. This is one area that I think Disney fails in. Just sing Christmas songs and be cute. Selling a ridiculous story about having to text a character to find him is not enjoyable to me.

We found many rides to be walk-ons or 10 minutes tops (BTMRR, Space, we didn't do Splash as we dont want to walk around wet on a cooler night) and meet and greets pretty much the same - except of course the dwarves, Santa, and SDMT. I guess it depends how close to Xmas you're going too.

It's fun. It's a unique Disney experience. It's a way to spend more money. It's beautiful. There are cookies!! Chip and Dale throw snow. I could go on, but why?? IT's a PARTY!!! party:

it is fun if you like xmas the only part that is not like xmas is the temp i am from nh and xmas is cold not warm

Thinking about doing it in early November. We did the Halloween party 2 years ago and enjoyed but wouldn't do it again for the cost. Not sure this is really "worth" the cost ($400 for 4 adults :crazy2::crazy2:) but we do really enjoy Christmas and this should be fun. Our first trip to a Disney parks was YEARS ago (like mid 90s?) to Disneyland during Christmas and we still have fond memories, though we didn't do the party (if they even had one then).

We've never been to the xmas party, but we're going to DW early December this year. It would have to be pretty special to justify a $400 evening for me. I haven't heard anything yet that makes me feel like we can't miss this. I am looking forward to the Christmas decorations, and I am sure all will be lovely, but I can't justify the cost.

Thank you for all the responses.
From what I have read, for me, I don't think it would be of any value. Since it is just myself, the cost would not be a factor however I'm not big on parades (if there is one passing I may stop for a few minutes), I don't care about meet and greets or photos, I can always purchase my own cookies and drinks (I'd get a few for $100). The only thing so far that may have entice me would be short/no wait times however it looks like that can't be counted on so that is gone. I did see it 'snow' a few years ago in Hollywood Studios with the lights display and that was pretty cool so I would think Main Street would be gorgeous. Still, not enough to grab my attention or $$s.
I'll wait and see if anything else comes up but I think I will just go on regular days with my multi day pass and save myself some money. Glad I asked here so I could see what was on offer. Again, thanks for all the replies. :flower3:

I've been to MVMCP almost every year since '03, some years twice. BUT...it's not what it used to be, that's for sure. Yes, there are a ton of people that will say it's wonderful and worth every penny you pay. But, we used to pay 1/3 the price years ago, there were half the people in the park, if you waited for the second parade you could sit down at a wonderful spot. There were special keepsake pins. Not a huge thing by any stretch. But, when I pay close to $100 to go now, and I have 20 min waits for most attractions, during the first 3 hrs of the party, it's kind of crappy. You have to decide if you want to do rides or see characters. You can't do both. The lines for most characters are horrendous. You want the Seven Dwarves? Be prepared to wait over two hours!
Yes, the parade is nice, as are the fireworks. I love the atmosphere. But, this year, it's probably going to have to be either MVMCP or MNSSHP. I have to do Candlelight Processional, so only one party this year! It will probably be Halloween...I just prefer it.

^^^ agree with @goofy4tink about the waits. I think it depends on the night. You might get a smaller crowd night with shorter waits, but you might get one that's packed. We went in early Dec. 2014 and while the waits for some rides were short, the lines for characters were SO long. I did enjoy the parade and snow. In short, I'm glad we went once but we won't be back again.

I honestly can't say. I've been when the decorations for Christmas are up in early Nov. and NEVER AGAIN. Christmas is fine, I guess, my mom ADORES it and has 3 live trees and multiple more, but it detracts for me. I don't feel the holiday a month in advance and don't frequent anywhere that has decorations up before Thanksgiving. So, I just don't go during that time. I LOVE Epcot and it would kill me to see it turned into Christmasland, but WDW should and does do what appeals to the mass, if Xmas isn't your thing, I think it'd be money wasted. Talk to me about the decorations around F&G though - gorgeous!

It used to be a much better value, because it had more "stuff!" They limited the number of tickets to something like 5000, which means it felt like an empty park. There were free family photos, almost no wait for anything, great fireworks, easy to sit curbside for the 2nd parade, and the shows were amazing- real stage shows, set in theaters- in addition to special characters with short lines, cocoa and cookies, and snow on Main St. The last time we went to MVMCP (2015), the shows were meh. We stood or sat on the pavement and the dancers danced on the pavement- not even a real stage, much less not in a theater. Lines were long, many over an hour or two. Horrendous parade crowds, no pictures, shorter fireworks. We did the party because we were on a short trip and I'd gotten an amazing deal on tickets- but they were 3 day tickets, no PH. I bought the MVMCP tickets to be our 4th park day. DD and I donned our party shirts, had lunch at the Wave, and were in line at MK by 3:30. They let us into the MK about 3:45 and we went right to FantasyLand for our first FP+. We used our 3 FP+ rides and rode an additional 5 rides by the time the party officially started at 7pm. We stayed until the very end of the party, riding on many things twice. HOWEVER... we don't do character meet and greets so we had tons of time to ride things and see parades/shows (only did 1 because the shows are just lame now). I think we maximized the value of the party ticket, and it was about $25 less than buying a one-day pass to MK. In this instance, it saved us money over buying a 4 day pass (yes, it was a great deal on the 3 day ticket), but if I'd planned our "usual" vacation with a day dedicated to MK, there's no way I'd waste the money on MVMCP tickets anymore.
