:earboy2: For our 25th Ann. My DH and I are going on a Disney Cruise. It's costing about $5000. We are thrilled. When my in-laws found out they commented about how it's sooooo much money, Yet when my Sister-in-law and her husband went to Italy for a week and spent about $8000 no one commented then. Why are people so willing to except high prices when traveling to europe but right away Disney is over priced. I feel I get more for for my money with Disney (the memories are priceless). When my SIL take out her pictures there is no excitement but everyone wants to see MICKEY. Just venting. ::MickeyMo

To each his own and isn't it nice to have the support of all these dis boarders.

Enjoy your cruise and make sure you have a lot of pix of Mickey to share with everyone when you get home.

My DW and I just cruised on the special four day sailing of the Magic in January to celebrate our "early" 30th Wedding Anniversary. We had a MAGICal time (look at the photo below). I say, go, enjoy yourself, and Happy 25th Anniversary!!!

Although we live in England we do not visit Europe and have not done so since discovering your lovely Country. This year for the first time we will be going back to Venice paid for by our two daughters as a surprise for our 40th wedding anniversary in June. We are all coming in October for the cruise and had expected that would be our holiday as we will all be together again.

Europe is not cheap by any means and considering the shorter distance flights are not comparable pricewise.

Happy holidays wherever you go.

Who cares how much it costs, as long as it worth it to you! If you can afford that, then so be it. I am sure that it will be worth every penny that you spend!

It's none of anyone's business how you choose to spend your vacation time or dollars. I sometimes get this reaction regarding WHY I am going to Disney World or on a Disney Cruise AGAIN! It's not like we never go anywhere else but about once a year, we need a Disney Fix! :earsgirl: Of course some of the same people who are incredulous that we are heading to Disney again own a mountain home or beach house and go there many, many times a year. :confused3

Personally, I think Disney is worth it. :earsgirl: I'm a Disney FANATIC!!! :Pinkbounc I don't blame you for spending 5000 on a Disney Cruise... :)

I'm with Nicki, I think it is worth every penny.

I just talked with my sister in law who is going on a 4 night on Carnival with 6 people I believe she said $6000. If that is so, that seems pretty high. I'll be interested to see how it compares to their RCCL trip that she and her hubby took. They thought Carnival would be better for the kids??????

Sometimes I think people just don't want to give DCL credit for the awesome experience.

i know what you mean! if someone says they are going to las vegas or branson or wherever again no one bats an eye. but for us to say we are going to wdw/cruise again....the response is AGAIN???!!! what's up w/that? :earboy2:

We get this a bit to. We have been trying to book a cruise as our "big" vacation every year since our first cruise in 2000. We didn't go in 2001, but have been in 02, 03, 04 and 05. And we're hoping to book in February of 06. For some reason this gets us the same, what again, or wow it must be nice. What I think is funny is that we live in New Jersey, near Philly. One of the most common vacations for families here is a week at the Jersey shore. No one blinks when someone talks about that, but I know that a full week at the shore can cost as much if not more than a cruise. And for us, there is no comparission, we love the Disney cruise experience and find it both relaxing and exciting as well as appealing to all five of us!

I bet plenty of people who go to Vegas every year get eyes batted at them. In fact, I just got back from Vegas and got plenty of "why would you go there?"

My in-laws go to Rome regularly. I know they hear "Rome again?"

My sister and BIL travel extensively all over the world. I know both families have "questioned" the amount of money spent on these trips.

I've probably stuck my foot in my mouth over someone's vacation plans...."oh, camping?" I say with too much of my own dismay at the idea of a night in a tent coming through.

Its your time and money, you get to do what you want with it. If busybodies say anything, just smile. If you don't want busybodies to say anything, don't mention your plans.

Maybe they think cruises are silly. I think golf is silly, but, I don't talk down to someone who likes it, and spends lots of money to play it at a nice golf course. I wouldn't do it, but that's me. I probably spend money on things others may see as silly or wasteful too. Ask me if I care...LOL

I say each to there own and enjoy what you like to do.

Bottom line, It's your money, you earned it. Spend it as you wish. Happy 25th. Hope you have a great time!!

I've been to Europe enough (including Disneyland Paris) to formulate a theory.

You see, Europe is the place to vacation if you're wealthy, intellectual, or simply want to give the appearance of either. For us middle-class who finally get over there, we find Europe to be crowded, dirty, expensive, and sometimes inhospitable to Americans - the UK being the exception. But we're unwilling to tell others how much money we wasted having a rotten time, so we perpetuate the myth of having a fabulous time to the point that we eventually suck our friends and neighbors into the scheme. Upon discovering our dirty little secret they, too, become a part of the scam.

It's sort of like Amway if you think about it. :teeth:

As for me, after having recently visited several places across Asia-Pacific, I desperately want to return to Malaysia and Australia.

And let me add that for those of you that think World Showcase in Epcot is a reasonable facsimile of Europe - nothing could be further from the truth. The foreigners are nice, there's no traffic headaches, no one teases you for being a fat American, there are no topless women by the water, and there's a complete lack of dog poop on the sidewalks.

But at least they got the expensive part down pat!
