Why pin codes now

I just got a pin code for 30% off from June 1-August 27 (book by June 26) and my question is, why are they sending pin codes now? Aren't they usually booked up by now for summer? Usually we get pin codes months in advance. Are they a lot of unsold rooms now? Just curious.

I've gotten 3 pin codes since our trip last May...so 3 in a year... Seems like one every season! Is that normal to get so many? I read how elusive they are...but they keep popping up in my inbox!

I've never gotten a pin code ever. Maybe that's because I'm an annual pass holder and a Florida resident, so they figure I get enough discount chances.

I rented DVC when we went last May, and it was my first trip to WDW as an adult, so I was surpised I have gotten so many considering I didnt book the room "through Disney"

Me either, I'm an AP holder now but this is my first year, been going to WDW for over 30 years and nary a pin code. Where's the love?

I've gotten several this year, one just last week. I already have a trip booked for November so I'm not sure why I got a pin code for this summer. Good question, OP.

We as Florida residents don't receive pin codes for exactly the reason you stated. Disney already sees us as a captive audience who get "enough perks".

We haven't had a pin code in 3 years. We got one every year from 08-12 but it's stopped. No rhyme or reason to these.

Just got mine in the mail today. Talk about no rhyme or reason, we have been going to WDW about twice a year since 2000 with all but 2 stays on property. Have also been to Disneyland. And this is the first time we have ever received a pin code. Don't know why. Something is up and who knows why. The only people who do know are to busy counting their millions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband has gotten about 6 to 8 pincodes since our trip last September. Odd considering our trips have never been booked in his name and they're going to an email that isn't even one he uses for Disney. He thinks he used that email to price out a trip 3 years ago. They've been for "up to 30% off and free park hoppers" for the same dates listed previously. I have a friend who is also receiving the same pin offers, at the same times, and the same methods (email or mail).

Been every year since 2001, never had a pin code. 2015 will be missing a trip, but planning to go in Feb 2016, would love to see a pin for that trip....

We got tons of pin codes back in 2011 when we didn't have a trip planned. None since then. Figures :P (We went back in 12 and 13, and will be going back in 16.)

Never have stayed onsite and every year we get a pin code. We always thought it was Disney's way of trying to get us to stay at a WDW resort. We'll see if I have something in the mail when I get home. :tilt:

When we lived full time near Disney, we were AP holders and of course Florida residents. We regularly used the discounts (both were usually similar) for room rates since that's really the only thing we needed. However, I've been seeing lots of advertising for discounts on certain resorts for certain dates. So either they aren't booked up completely the way they want to be or they're hoping to encourage people to do a quick trip now instead of waiting. I'm sure if Disney thinks it pays to advertise discounts, there's a financial reason!

I don't think that is why. It seems to be more random than that.
I get one in my email almost weekly. I am a DVC member, AP holder, Disney Visa holder, Tables in Wonderland holder and almost always have a trip booked.

Every single PIN code I've gotten has been in the last 2 years ish and they are all the exact same offer as the currently general public discounts. So I don't see why everyone makes a big deal about them. Unless Disney has just started giving them out as a reminder that discounts are available...

You can always call and apply the code to your existing reservation if it's applicable!

I'm a Passholder and I've received 3 email PIN codes and one in the mail since our trip last summer.
