Why Package Costs More?

I just called to upgrade my room only to include tickets and also get the free upgrade with the Visa code. Getting the hopper and waterparks free.

When she gave me the new total for the room and tickets together, it comes out to be more expensive than just buying my tickets separately, still paying for the hopper myself?

I didn't change my reservation now, I may as well buy the tickets on my own.

I'm not sure what good the visa upgrade code is then?

It's all so confusing!

The package price should have been rack rate for the room plus basic park ticket price and all taxes.

Did you have a discount on your room-only rate? You will lose that if you go with the package.

Otherwise it doesn't make sense. The room only rate plus paying for your own tickets (base plus the hopping and extras) should come out to more.

As is often told you should try a different cast member to make your ressies. Different cast members are able to figure out different things.

I had a reservation in May for 4-days/3-nights at ASMo with AAA rate on the room and 4-day park hoppers (1 adult, 1 child) purchased separately that came to $850. Then the Visa offer came out and, since I had been considering the possibility of buying one-day water parks tickets anyway, I thought I would see what the price would be with the Visa package. I expected it to be $912 - rack rate room + 4-day park hopper price (since WP&M was free). Called CRO and had them price it for me and the total was $815. For some reason, I got a discount on the room. I didn't question it. I cancelled the other ressie and booked the Visa package. I too suggest calling and speaking to another CM.

I think the park hopper is free as well using that code. I could be wrong but for each person the PH is about 48 bucks on a 3 day ticket.

Yep. I'd say it took off the cost of hopping too. As to the OP it could be that they added insurance... or should I say you didn't decline it... they sneak it on gloss over it real quick. The other possibility is that they booked you a preferred room. I've had them attempt that one as well. I suggest clarifying those two things first.

I wonder if it was taxes. I don't know how disney does it but frequently with "free" things you still pay the tax based on what the "free" item cost. So when you upgraded your taxes might have went up :confused3

Ahhhh...that explains it. Thanks for clearing that up. I priced the package on the Disney website without park hopper or WP&M and it came to 816.54. Checked my confirmation for the exact number and it's $816.54. Either way, I'm glad I called CRO for the price, because I was assuming that I was getting the better deal with the AAA discount and I was wrong.
