Why do people say they character buffets are not a good value on the dining plan? They are close to $30 and that seems to be inline with most of the TS meals. :cool1:

1) Many character DINNERS are in line.
2) Would fit in the ideal target area of $27-$35 per table service coupon.
3) Character BREAKFASTS are not too good of a deal.

As I see it, it depends. If you eat like a bird, a buffet may not be for you. If you enjoy trying a variety of foods, or want 6 portions of carved roast beef, followed by 7 desserts (assorted cakes etc...) :rotfl: then the buffets are totally your thing. I dont go to that extreme, but I do have *strange* eating habbits now that I have found out that I am type II diabetic. I have 1 or 2 nice plates of salad, which I top with chicken (I usually get a breast and shred it mysef at the table (no skin) then add it to my salad plate. Then I will probably hit the carving station twice, eating little or none of the rice/ potato type of starches. THEN~ I get to taste as many desserts as i want. As long as I only eat a tiny bit of each. Strange but true, thats just what I have been reduced to :rotfl2:

Its a good value if its a good value to you. If - at the end of your trip - you've EITHER spent less than you would have paid out of pocket OR you've had a better quality trip because of the dining plan - its been a good value. If your goal on the dining plan is to "save" as much money as possible, well - people take enjoyment from different things, I guess. I'd rather have the experiences I want without worrying about whether I 'make out like a bandit' on the dining plan or just get a good value.

I have to say that I think they are a good deal. We dont eat much for lunch but love a nice big dinner, you can really get your money's worth if you are hungry

Most people say the character breakfast buffets (which are the most common character meal) are not good values. They are less than $20 a person while you can spend twice that by spending your table service on a table service dinner with full menu. Even a character dinner is a better value.

I think maybe you misunderstood? It's said over and over again on here that character breakfast buffets are not good values but have not seen character dinner buffets mentioned that way.

I'm trying the dining plan on my upcoming trip. Looking at the different restaurants, especially the sit-down one's, you could easily spend $35 per person on just one sit-down meal.

The Crystal Palace is my favorite buffet. Never been disappointed there. Am trying Cape May Buffet for the first time and am also doing the 1900 for dinner and Crystal Palace for dinner on my second night there and breakfast the morning I have to head home.

What's a good value to someone is highly dependent on the individual itself. I'm doing free dining and to me, ANYTHING free is a good value. :) For those paying for the plan, it just depends on where you want to go. Some character breakfast buffets are below $20, some are above...so in terms of $$, the value of something may or may not be worth it. But ultimately it's based on how much you want to go. If the $$ value isn't an issue for you and you want to go...then go! :)
