Why not a Sports Forum here on The Dis???

While it would be fun, I doubt that there are many people here who are interested in my sport of choice (track and field athletics, and road running).

Hey Vicky, what distances do you run? You look pretty fast in your pictures!I love to run (10K - marathon), but I don't consider myself a competitive runner.

In fact the "observer" factor is perfectly fine until you want to have detailed discussions about sports.

true I can def give you that. but in those cases the observer usually understands they don't know much and stops the talking themselves...lol

Cardaway, it wasn't about the fan vs. observer or who can name their fav team's starting line-up, it was all about putting all the sports related threads and posts in their very own forum. Why should we have to search through things like "I saw a squirrell eat a nut today" or "When I woke up this morning I had fuzz between my toes!" Just a much, I'm sure, that the squirrel and toe people don't want to look through Nascar and fantasy team threads!!!

Well, while I wish it was me, the first two pics are Paula Radcliffe (her first marathon and her most recent one) - although you're right, she is pretty fast (look here)!

I'm more of a fan than anything - just getting back into it with big aims for next year (and have every intention of doing the WDW Marathon in the next few years - much to the dismay of my BF!).

Thats a good point. I am a huge Flyers hockey fan. But I don't come to the DIS to discuss Flyers hockey I go to the two main Flyers message boards.

Just the simple fact that "sports forum" was included in the thread title was enough to get Cardaway and Pixiemomma in here and participating in the posts. So mission accomplished (somewhat!)
I thought it would be nice to have someplace that you could have a civil and partly intelligent debate about all sports. One of the reasons that I stay out of true sports forums is because you always have the resident lunkhead, who knows it all and starts going off on other posters!!! Doesn't make it fun at all!!!
BTW KingsFanInRI, I have the same picture that's in your sig, hanging in my office!!!

Actually, I've joined a local league this year and as this will be only the second time I'm doing this, I think I'll just stick with one league this season. I'm still waiting to hear back from them as to when our draft is. If I don't hear anything within the next week, then I'll join the DIS league if there are any openings left.
