Why No Trams for Epcot Resorts

At the WS entrance there is a what looks like a Tram drop off. I would say this was for Epcot hotel guest. Or could have even been a tram to MGM and the hotels as well. Now that would have been nice and allot faster than taking the boat from MGM to Epcot.

I'm pretty sure they had discontinued the tram by the time the walkway to the Studios opened. I do recall that the first time we were at the Beach Club we used the trams when the kids had conked out, but that was more than ten years ago.

See we stayed at Beach club shortly after opening and I dont remember a tram at all.

They definitely had it the first time we stayed at the BC in 1994. I even have it on video!

IIRC, it looped around clockwise: Swan/Dolphin, then Yacht, then Beach (Boardwalk wasn't built yet). We could have walked back to the BC faster but the kids were pooped.

The tram was originally in place for S/D guests when those resorts were first built--there was no "walkway" around the lake. They competed with walkway space for guests, and weren't as long as the ones used in the parking lots at the resorts. Due to capacity constraints and pedestrian safety issues once the BC/YC were opened, boat service was added and the trams discontinued.

BTW--At that time there was no walkway/tramway to MGM, that was only opened maybe three years ago? Originally bus service was provided to S/D guests.

when the BW first opened - the tram took Epcot guest back and forth to it for around a year. It was only at night when the BW opened.

Now that BW opens after Epcot is closed - the trams are no longer used. besides this resort has been sold out for a while (DVC).

The trams were used by the YC and BC orginally as well because we used them all the time. The tram stop for the YC was back by the quiet pool. The tram never went to MGM only Epcot. They discontinued the tram when the Boardwalk went up.
