does anyone know why there is no spectromagic scheduled
for saturday august 21?? i thought they always has one on
saturdays??

August 21 the park closes at 9pm (so Spectro would have to start at 8pm in order to run it). This is getting back into the slower season where Spectros are limited. I know that stinks when it is the week you had planned but Spectros for August are:

August 1-3 -- 9pm & 11pm
August 4-14, 16, 17 -- 9pm
August 24, 28, 31 -- 8:30pm

so there are no Spectros scheduled for the 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30 (which are all park closing of 8:30 or 9pm) you will still have Wishes though, not that that makes up for Spectro...

When there is only ONE showing of Spectro during a weeks visit it will be so crowded as to be almost unbearable.

During our last visit in May we had two and the place was jammed.

bummer...I was going to attempt it since we've never seen it.

What if you get there early and stake out a curb spot...is it just bad getting out afterwards?

I hope we can do this.

Beattyfamily. The park is always packed on 1 Spectro nights, especially when they are not running them everynight. If you stake out a spot early you will have no problem seeing the parade, but following Spectro is Wishes so if you want to cut out before the fireworks you will avoid the after parade crowd. If you want to stay for fireworks you can hang around for a little while afterwards (shopping on Main Street perhaps) and the crowd will die out. It usually takes about an hour after the masses leave to be bareable, in my opinion. For the parade itself I like sitting by the Barber shop in front of the Emporium (or on the other side of the road in front of the firehouse). This is right where the parade steps off and usually the last place to fill up. On the Emporium side there is the curb (firehouse you would be sitting on the road itself). Like I said though it is usually the last place to fill up so it takes longer to get crowded in, and the view is perfect, once the parade has passed you if you want to watch the fireworks head over to the flag pole and you will have a perfect view (it will get crowded there, but it is not a parade viewing area so you will be one of the first ones there since the parade passed you first (this way you are also already at the exit after fireworks and can be one of the first ones out if you choose). Just a little tip based on what we do :)

Regardless of the crowd factor, I think the Spectromagic parade is definitely worth the effort! I love it. I've told my husband that I wish I'd walked down the aisle to the Spectro music instead of the Wedding March!

When we went last September it was only shown on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The parks were packed, but Spectro was shown twice. We decided to go to the second showing, because the crowds were bad for the first. We sat infront of Pecos Bill's for thesecond showing and there was nobody there! My suggestion in if there are 2 showings go to the 2nd and sit by Pecos. It is at the end of the parade route and not crowded. Good Luck!

Thank you for the replies! We will be staying at CR and may head over leaving plenty of time for a good spot!

Thank you for the location ideas!! Now i need to look at my map to see what you both mean!

On the Emporium side there is the curb (firehouse you would be sitting on the road itself).

Are you talking about right where the parade starts/ends around the corner? So I would NOT see the Castle from this spot, correct? I'm just trying to picture where you mean. I do know where the Emporium is.

Also, where is Pesco Bills?

Thanks again!

Pecos Bill's is a restauran. It is in Frontier Land next to Splash Mt. and Big Thunder MT.

Yes that is correct it is right where it starts so you would not see the castle. That is why I suggest that as soon as it is done you move over to the flag pole where you will have a perfect view of the fireworks. There is no parade viewing from the flag pole area as it is an exit access due to the street being closed so there is not going to be people there that watched the parade and are going to be waiting for fireworks. So as soon as the parade is over, if you go over to the flagpole (as the parade is heading down Main Street) you will be one of the first ones there for a perfect view of the castle and Wishes :)

And the answer to your other question is, Pecos is the resturant by Splash Mountain, it is the last bulding on the left in Frontierland and also the end of the parade route for Spectro :)

It's just about next to Country Bear Jamboree.

If the only Spectro that week is tues, Aug 24th - will the park be more crowded the entire day, or only in the evening?

That's the day I was telling my sister to try and hold the kids off until for MK. They arrive on Sun - EMH day, but they won't get into a park until noon - then Mon is supposed to be the worst day - now Tues is the only Spectro parade scheduled!!! Yikes ! I know she won't hold those kids off until Weds - guess that's why MK is so popular on Mondays!! - the kids want to see the castle first - they haven't been in 10 years and I just don't want them to experience the MK at it's most crowded!:smooth:

Day crowd is not usually to bad. It is the cross over that hits the attendance. When Animal Kingdom closes, a lot of people will hop over to MK or people that have already been to MK during their vacation will spend time at one of the other parks and head over to MK just for the parade.

Just checked on the Cast Memeber web pages and the dates and times for August 21st have been changed... Just wanted to get that out there as I was looking for someone else and remembered this post. When this post was recent it stated park closes at 9 with no Spectro... It now states that MK will be open until 10pm with Spectro at 9pm and Wishes at 10pm....I am guessing they are in the process of making this change as it is not on Disney.com yet, but it is in the cast info.

Thanks LibertyBelle !!! Hopefully the Tuesday night spectro won't be 'quite' as crowded now !!! :smooth:

I'd better get on line and re-check those park hours again !!!
I think a lot of people are taking advantage of some of the great last minute air fares and resort discounts - maybe some more hours have been added . . . now if we could just get another e-nite . . . ;)
