Why No Coco in the parks!

Just got back from a quick 4 day trip to the world and one of the saddest thing this trip was we looked all over and only found a few this that were Coco related. My wife and I love the movie and with all the awards it has been getting I really thought there would be more then one little cart in Mexico. Sad just sad.
Inside the Mexico pavilion is full of Coco stuff.

The initial merchandise (and any M&G's) is almost always paid for out of the films production budget. We were discussing this in a thread about the time Coco came out. For years, parks would be full of a new films merchandise leading up to the opening weekend, then quickly drop off and disappear within weeks of opening. It takes Disney Parks a much longer time to decide what they want to design and sale as merchandise long term.

No Not really most of it is the same stuff that has been in there for years. We went in there and there was only one cart that had Coco stuff for sale.

Are you talking merchandise? Because the entire lobby of the Mexico pavilion was info about Coco and related topics.

I also feel like Disney missed the mark on merchandising for Coco. There was very little available in the parks. I thought it would have exploded with stuff. It's a gorgeous movie with such a beautiful story. Day of the Dead merchandise is very cool, yet there was barely anything. Even months after when they saw how popular the movie is, nothing really new appeared.

All that Moana merchandise is taking up the shelf space. (*that was sarcasm)

There is Coco merchandise online and in the Disney store. The movie doesn’t have the built in fans of Star Wars that had last Jedi stuff in the parks in September for a December opening. The movie has only been out since Thanksgiving and hasn’t hit Blu-ray/rental market yet.

The Coco name with the little boy with guitar in the trailer does not make sense until you watch the movie. It could have been a bust like The Good Dinosaur was.

I watched The Toys That Made Us on Netflix a few weeks back, and there was an interesting tidbit in there when they were discussing Star Wars merch that a toy line (and I would assume other related merch) takes somewhere around 18 months from conception to actual stocking, so if that holds true I'd say we just haven't seen the Coco stuff yet. I would bet Disney is hesitant to say full steam ahead on anything like that until they see what demand is going to look like.

The ride inside the Mexico Pavillion may be refurbed with Coco IP.

I was at my local Disney Store on Sunday. They had Coco stuff in the store. There are several items on Disney Store website.

Other than some plushes. It doesn’t have the princess costume dress up factor that would appeal to little girls. It’s probably not that appealing to little boys who probably rather have the Star Wars stuff.

I’m still surprised Moana doesn’t even have a meet and greet. I thought for sure that she would get her own home, like Merida.
I mean at least Moana met briefly in FL without a paywall before being replaced by Starlord .... Nick and Judy have only ever visited Florida during parties and maybe marathon weekend but that's it

I just mean that we definitely haven't seen a boom of it. Obviously they would put their money down for an initial rollout of merch probably airing on the conservative side, but I just don't think they would go like Frozen-level bananas on merch until they see if the movie hits or misses.

We saw quite a bit of Coco merchandise, both in Epcot and in Magic Kingdom. I'm guessing now that the movie was such a huge hit things will start to pop up all over.

They are putting in a Moana meet in Adventureland where the construction is. I read it on Chip and Co I think. Can't remember.

They had some CoCo stuff in the Pirate League Store at MK, the store attached to it, but it was very small.
