Why no automated ressies?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why there is no way to make dining reservations on Disney's website? Not that I want any more interaction with Disney's sorry excuse for a site than I have to have now.......it just surprises me.

It's been discussed before. It sounds great and there are people on here who have all the technical information for exactly how it could work. However, there isn't any indication for that happening in the near future.

Personally, I'm fine with the way it is now. There are some tangibles that do need to be communicated with a Disney Cast Member. A larger party that will need two tables, special diet considerations, dress codes, seating (like eight at the Biergarten). If the system was automated, these would have to be addressed and if someone has one of these issues and doesn't realize it, they are going to be very surprised and possibly disappointed when they go for their meal. I don't think any of us actually read the agreements when we sign up for anything online. We just click "I agree" and go.

And, of course, if they did offer automated ADRs, then people would have one more thing to complain about.

I agree. I'm content with having to call for my ADRs. While getting online would be great...I can only imagine the problems that could ignite!

I can definitely see the many potential problems with people being allowed to make their own ADRs on line.

However, wouldn't it be great if once you had made ADRs, you could at least view them online? When you go to the Disney site, you can look at your payment info and resort reservation, and you need your reservation and phone numbers. ADRs are linked to your phone #, so why not. It would at least eliminate all the people calling to confirm or double check something. Just a thought...
