Why must they tempt me so?

We really want to buy DVC & already have a plan in place to most likely buy come this fall. We'll most likely buy at Bay Lake Towers. I know we need roughly 230 points for studios for the two times of year we are most likely to go until we have school-age children.

Then I get this email:

And now you will receive your choice of either two Walt Disney World® Annual Passes or two Disneyland ® Resort Premium Annual Passports¹ when you join Disney Vacation Club by May 30, 2009 and use your Disney Rewards® Visa® Card on your down payment. See details below.

So roughly a $1000 savings for our Sept Trip since we were buying APs anyway.

Do we go for this? Or hold out until the fall like originally planned? We will most likely have around $2.5k to $5k to put down initially and plan on overpaying after that for the monthly payments.

Think about it this way.. You will be financing those Annual Passes over the life of your finance contract if you take this deal.

Well we are going to finance DVC no matter what (:scared1: I know ) Its just a matter on when we actually buy in.

Can I ask where the e-mail came from? I see this offer posted all over the boards and I did not get an e-mail... was it from your guide? We are also considering purchasing BLT as well. Maybe I need to switch my guide?

FYI - in one of the recent posts there was a comparison (sorry, I can't seem to find it at the moment) of current $ incentives vs. APs. I think it sounds cheaper to take the double price reduction vs. the APs. If I can find that post I will re-post...

Good Luck. This is why I like to read these boards, so I know I am not the only one making these tough decisions. I think the new incentive for BLT is hard to pass up... unless you can hold out another year or so for BLT resale ;)

If you're going in September anyway and are sure you want BLT, then I say buy now and use your points to stay in September (you may not get BLT this Sept. but you never know....there are lots of other nice resorts that you can try but use your points for any resort since you're planning to buy anyway). However, do NOT do the annual pass deal. Take the cash off instead. Once you're a DVC member, you get a $100 discount on annual passes so they'd be $800 for 2 adults. You'd receive more money off using the discount per point and can then pay for your annual passes.

DizGirl20 - The email came from the Disney Rewards Visa special offer.

I sent an email to DVC asking if you can us this offer + the double point reduction or if you can only use one of them.

We thought about using points for Sept, but we are planning the Boardwalk CL under a 40% code since its for the F&W Festival & I know the DVC rooms are long gone anyway so the first time we are going to use points would be Feb 2010.

Hummm... lets see you get, as CarolA says, to finance those AP's for the life of the contract, :scared1:or how about taking $3220 off the top. :thumbsup2 230 points X $14 savings = $3220. You would still get to pay for the AP's but by taking the $14/point off you save at least $2200?:confused3

I believe there is also an additional amount off for having a referal (I'm available) from a current member (check out the thread that's titled incentives it explains them all)

ETA: here's the incentive link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2130707&page=5

There is a thread on here that lists a whole lot of members who are more than willing to be referals and will also answer your questions (I'm on there too!).

ETA here's the link for the referal thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2054975

Or if you have a friend who is a member make sure you mention them for a referal because I believe the referal gets a little something for it ;).

Take the plunge!
