Why Mighty Ducks?

Last visit, my husband and I stayed at the All Star Movie resort. We were in the "Mighty Duck" part of the resort, which was fine! No complaints about the hotel.

We just thought that Mighty Ducks was a bit... random. Other sections of the hotel had 101 Dalmations, and Fantasia, and other things that 99% of people would know at first glance.

Mighty Ducks... I know it was popular when it first came out, but I never got the impression that it was as popular as some other Disney movies. Was it chosen because they wanted a sports related area to the hotel?

I was just wondering, it seems so random to me. haha

It is incredibly popular. Incredibly. Many people now would have seen Mighty Ducks that barely know what Fantasia is.

However, they are no longer called the Mighty Ducks and they are no longer owned by Disney.
When the resort opened, it was a definite cross-promotion tool, so that definitely entered into the thinking.
They're now called the Ducks, without the "Mighty". (And the arena was renamed about the same time from the Arrowhead *Pond* to the Honda Center.)
