BWV "preferred" view, which is 75% of the resort, is the same point cost as BCV and VWL. BWV "standard" view is lower (and difficult to get because of high demand for lower point cost). When it originally opened in 1996, BWV had only one point structure. Sales were somewhat slow at first and they received a lot of complaints about the front view (with parking lot in distance) not being worth the same points as others. So they rewrote the offering circular to add the lower cost standard view. It is not something they have ever done again or have felt the need to.
Only the standard view villas at the BWV are fewer points that the BCV and VWL villas of the same size. We've only stayed in sv one time (so far), but we had 4 sv villas in the group and they all faced the driveway. We could see some of the higher fireworks from Epcot from our balconies. We think they are very nice. We own points at BWV, and at 11 months out if I know we want to stay at BWV, I book standard view, if I'm trying to switch at 7 months out, then I book the Boardwalk view, because if I'm going to pay the "extra" points, I want to think I'm getting something special for them. That's just the way we feel.
Some people think OKW has the nicest villas, but they don't have the most points. It seems that BCV are worth much more for resale than the others.
Yep...it's all personal preference and supply and demand.
I'm glad they amended things to offer Boardwalk, Pool, standard view...I really like having a choice of saving points or guaranteeing a nice view...of course it is a hard choice!!!!! cause that boardwalk view is exceptional....but if I pass ROFR, it's one I get to make

back when BWV first opened - there were so many complaints from members when they received a parking lot view (standard) - that DVC decided to do double system (preferred and standard)
the preferred are just not parking lot.
the standard are parking lot.
they have say that they will NEVER do this system again. regardless of complaints.
in all my stays at OKW - I have never gotten a parking lot view - once a road view - but never a parking lot view - that is what BWV was being compared too.
The nice thing about the standard view is its not really parking lot. You see a nice fountain, grass area, trees, then cars beyond that. Great deal for less points.
I'll be there in April with a studio BW view, then next January it will be a 1 bedroom standard view. Its nice to have choices. Its one of the reasons I chose BWV over BCV.
We just retruned from BWV and stayed in a standard view room. It was a hike from the elevators, but at the very end of the hall and overlooked what they called the "duck pond." Beyond the pond was the parking lot but I am absolutely fine with that. If I looked to the right I could see the water and boats leading to MGM. To me, this view is absolutely fine and I am thrilled that since I own at BWV that I can stay there and use the standard point chart.
Yes, but BCV cost more originally than the OKW or BWV. IN most cases, with those three resorts, you should be able to get your purchase price back when you re-sell through the Timeshare store (rememebr they take 15% (?) commission? And if you sell yourself you do okay.
