I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to Tokyo Disney. Since the resort is not owned by Disney and exceeds Disney's current standards of quality by huge margins, it's in the American company's best interest to downplay Tokyo.
Besides, they already get paid a licensing fee. There is no reason to entice more Americans to visit those parks and lure them away from Paris, Hong Kong, Orlando, and Anaheim, all of which are underperforming to varying degrees. The vast majority of visitors to Tokyo Disney are in fact Japanese and management is not wanting for guests.
Because this board is very heavily orientated to Walt Disney World, much of the advertising is for Disney vacation packages, hotels near Disney World, and other official Disney products. It doesn't make sense for Disboards to go out of their way to help lure (or help people like me lure) would-be Disney World,
Disneyland, or
Disney Cruise Line guests to Tokyo.
You can't book a Tokyo Disney vacation through Disney, nor are there any Tokyo Disney travel agents like there are for Disney World, that I know of. There is no reason for Americans to talk about Tokyo Disney other than a love for great Disney parks.
Anyway, that's what I think.
