Just wondering. Why is it we have a thread for all the mod/deluxe resorts except Port Orleans?

I'd love to get one started! I'll be staying there for the first time in August.

Any tips?
Sarah

There is no thread on POR or POFQ because no one has volunteered to keep an eye on one. The threads are not started by the Dis Boards but people that have been to the various resorts.

We do it because we had good experiences at that resort and want to help others. I have stayed at POR several times but I am sure there is someone more qualified to lead that thread.

That's what I figured. I just want to put it out there that I'd REALLY like it if there were one.

What does it say about PO that no one here wants to do a thread for them?

Sarah

I don't think it says anything really. There are many, many of us that enjoyed our stays at Port Orleans. If the Dis boards search feature was working you would see many threads about this resort.

I did find a few and some more at the passporter boards. I just wish they were all together and had more info. They just don't seem to have much of anything.

I honestly think I'll be happy in either section! I think I'll let it be a suprise. I don't mind walking if I'm far away either.

Thanks for your help safetymom!

Yes PO is a great resort. Why not have them note in your reservation that you are on your honeymoon? They might work a little Disney magic for you.

We used to make requests but found we got better rooms when we let them assign them.

My husband and daughter stayed there over Easter. I called All Star Sports for Easter and she upgraded me to POR. I asked my husband if he wanted and upgrade, and he looked at me like are you kidding.

They loved it. They said it was quiet and peaceful, the rooms were geat, they loved the walking paths along the river. They stayed in the Mansion which they thought was way cool.

My husband is way picky and for him to praise anything means he was pretty impressed.

Its not the best time to start a POR and POFQ thread since the renovations are going on and info may be incorrect. Once they are back up and running it would be a good time.

On the contrary it would be the best place to get the newest info (rumor or not) about what's going on. Right now there are at least 3 threads talking about the renovations. Why not put them all in one place, with a bunch of regulars who know what they're talking about to answer any type of ? That is my interpretation of the other resort threads.

Oh well, some wishes don't come true.

i think thats a great idea, sarah!!

i too am disapointed that there isn't a thread on POR- especially since i will be staying there for the first time in july

i promise to post a detailed report on POR when i get back- 7/16 to 7/23 and i will also ask the hotel CM's questions about when are renovations starting

is there anyone out there who just returned from POR and could please share some details (pretty please!)

thanks

Since you aren't getting any tips for POR, I would love to chime in here. We have stayed here four years in a row. We just joined the DVC, so we'll be going to the BCV's for the first time, but I know I will truly miss this place! For one, the food court is great, very convenient and do buy the mugs..a terrific savings. The grounds...immaculate and exceptionally beautiful. I would recommend reserving your first day just to take in this resort. The main pool is so much fun in itself. The slide is a blast! And the jacuzzi with a frozen margarita in hand...well, need I say more? Also, reserve an evening just to enjoy a boat ride to downtown Disney. It is such a nice break from the buses.
If you are staying in AB section, request bldg. 15. It is a very short walk to the food court and main bldg. and best of all, the bus stop. You won't believe how big this resort is. You will learn this the first bus ride you take and it will stop at 4 different bus stops. So be sure to request a close bldg. to the South Depot bus stop. Oh, I could go on and on about POR. You will just love it to pieces.:D

We are POR/DxL regulars. Will be there again in August for second visit this year. A thread would be great.

It has been many years since my last visit here. However, because of FTP price, I am staying in November and was wondering about the renovation work as well. I am hoping to stay in one of the manors but have read a number of bad reviews regarding dirty rooms (soiled carpets, burntout lights and soiled bed spreads as well as moldy bathrooms). Don't get me wrong as I realize that renovations are needed, but I would be quite disappointed if I got stuck in a funky room. I really do want to stay here but not if I feel that it will put a damper on my vacation.

Yecats, if you get to your room and it isn't the way you like it just contact the front desk. Disney is always good about taking care of issues. Relax and don't worry about the room.

As far as starting a PO thread anyone can start one. You need to contact one of the moderators so that they can add it to the list at the top of the threads. Someone needs to keep an eye on the list when someone posts with questions.

yecats,

I also read the same things. We are staying at the POR in second week of Nov. I am very nervous... and I have booked for a party of 11 (3 different rooms)....

I am really wanting a "clean room"... above all that means the most to me... I hope we will not be disappointed. I also do not relish the idea of complaining and moving to a different spot..... since they will be trying to book all three rooms in the same general area.

I am just going to hope for the best I guess.

If anyone really has any "recent" info on the room quality... please post! I requested the mansion area.... But I also want to be closest to bus service and food court... Some suggested Oak Manor... but I read that was a smoking optional building (yuck)... so we suggested Magnolia Terrace. Don't know.... I'll hope for the best.

We just returned in March from Parterre Place. While there, we went over to Magnolia Terrace, it looked great. We have stayed there before. You will enjoy the mansions, don't worry about the walk, there are several short-cuts.

We stayed at POR in December and had a wonderful time.
There were several people that had bad things to say about the resort, but we did not have a problem.

It was the first time we stayed onsite. We will never stay off site again. Our experience was a positive one.
We had a clean room, no mold as some people reported in their room.
Our maid always arranged our animals like they were watching tv when we came back in our room.

The place was hopping with people, but the only time we noticed it was at the food court.

We had a wonderful time and I would stay there again.

I think thought the next time we go, though, my DH wants to stay at FW cabins.

Wow 2 pages! Look what I started!

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone. We'll be getting there at about 12pm on an E-ride night so I figure we'll hang around and get used to the resort then hop over to the MK after dinner!

I think I'm leaning towards the mansions so I'll probably try for Oak Manor or Magnolia Terrace, but I'll be happy anywhere I think.

Is there anywhere I should avoid?

I'd love to start a thread, but as I've never been there I don't think I'm qualified:( .

I hope someone else will!
