WHY is there so much incompetence anymore? - Vent

:)

Using "anymore" in that way is, in my experience of listening/reading "dialects", a regional (though I'm not sure what region) use of the word. Means something similar to "nowadays".

I thought the title was similar to using double negatives?

I have a friend who responds to "do you mind" questions with "I don't care to" which means "I don't mind" in her family. If you say "I don't mind" they understand you mean "I don't listen".

Eh. I've had my chart misplaced, prescriptions not called in, prescriptions lost, etc.

Chart misplaced usually means that it just hadnt been filed yet (either after a phone call, test result, etc). 4 of my doctors are on a hospital based electronic chart system, the other 4 are still using regular charts

Prescriptions not called in usually means that teh doctor did not give it to their assistant to call in or put in a pile and not gotten to yet or simply mispalced. I usually give it until the next day and than call them and my doctors are more than happy to rewrite it.

Prescriptions lost can be the same thing. Lost by teh doctor, by their assistant, front desk, etc.

There are so many possibilities to what could happy that I really dont have the energy to get annoyed unless it is a recurring thing. I have 8 doctors. Every single one of them would reqrite a lost or mispalced prescription with no problem. I go wiht, you know what, the front desk and office assistants, as wlel as the doctors are human as well. If they misplace a prescription every once in a while so be it.

Best I can figure, we all presumed or expected a world with no incompetence by the year 2010; since there is still incompetence, the "anymore" would be somewhat appropriate?

Thanks. These explanations make sense. I was starting to feel incompetent at reading thread titles.

:thumbsup2, but is does not excuse it:rolleyes1
If you give someone two bricks and twenty minutes, are you going to expect them to be able to build you a house? We regular folks, consumers and investors, have a role in all this, prompting - forcing - our service providers to operate on lower costs, but still providing the same profits. If we continually try to blame "someone else" for what we continually are doing to ourselves, we'll never understand the situation accurately, and we'll never even come close to beginning to understand how to change things.

The doctor I go to is in a clinic with about a dozen doctors. They now have a check in system, much like that of an airline. You swip your drivers license and you are checked in without seeing a person. They cut 3 or 4 jobs by doing this. When I need a RX renewed, I do it online and the dr's office calls in the RX to my pharmacy.

You hate to see people lose their jobs, but with what's happening in medical care they need to cut everywhere they can. A couple of the women working at the check-in desk were grouchy anyway, I like the computer better.
