Why is there so much beach club availability?

Long story short - we've always gone to WDW in the summers when kids are on break from school. They're all off to college next year, so my wife and I are looking at going in early to mid Sept.

I'm legitimately shocked to see availability at both Boardwalk and Beach Club, both resorts which I've always found impossible to book. I know September is a less busy month, but I'm still surprised to see so much 1BR availability.

Is there a catch? I know both resorts are undergoing construction - for anyone who has been, has it been completely disruptive to your trips? Note, I don't really care about seeing visible construction areas or even work going on during the daytime. I live in NYC where it's loud and busy all the time.

its what you said above, it's September, traditionally WDW's slowest month of the year

Yeah Labor Day week and the following week I think statistically are the two slowest weeks of the year. One bedrooms are also the room type with the least demand. Even at busier times of year there's a decent chance at getting a 1BR at either of those resorts.

Meanwhile I want to book Beach Club in December and of course, the only days I want are the days that are grayed out. Sigh.

1 bedrooms are also the slowest moving room types in the DVC system because they are the "worst deal" in terms of the number of points they take vs. cash rates.
