My family and I are travelling to disney in Nov, we have been on the free dining plan twice now and enjoyed getting to try all the restaurants, this time it worked out cheaper to stay on my mums DVC points so we have been considering adding the DDP. We really liked it as a freebie, and would prob have decided to pay for it this time IF not for the fact there are NO decent restaurants on it in DTD.
I just don't get it!!! We didn't mind last time, we paid OOP, after all the plan was free, but we aren't going ot get it this time because we will normally eat at DTD twice in our trip so it just doesn't make sense.
Just wondering if there is a reason disney doesn't put at least a few more restaurant choices on in DTD area or is it just us that this bothers???

Wolfgang Puck, both the express and the sit down cafe, and Earl of Sandwich. I have not tried it but Raglan Road gets rave reviews and there is also Capt Jack's. We usually do CS meals at DTD and always find something delish!!

Earl of Sandwich and the Wolfgang Puck restaurants are great. I actually thought Wolfgang Puck Express was the best use of a Quick Service credit I'd ever had.

The meal we had at Raglan Road was one of the best on our last trip. I didn't care for the noise level inside, but the food & service was fantastic.

Definitely must be a matter of different strokes for different folks...we LOVE Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich for counter service at DTD. And LOVE Wolfgang Puck Cafe and Raglan Road for table service (with the bonus of wonderful Irish music & dancing at Raglan Road...as well as scrumptious adult beverages) Those 4 choices would cover eating at DTD two times...or more...2 CS or 2 TS or one of each. :thumbsup2

All of those restaurants are on the Dining plans...

Most (all?) restaurants at Downtown Disney are not Disney owned and operated. As such, Disney offers them the chance to be on the dining plans, but they can opt out if they wish to.

Raglan Road is on the dining plan and it's one of my favorites.

We love raglan road. It is one of our top restaurants that we have to hit every trip. We also love WPE. For a counter service meal it's great. The fact that a waiter serves you at your table makes it seem like a table service for a counter service credit.

DH & I LOVE WGP Express! It was one of our best counter service meals both times we ate there.

OP - Have you tried Wolfgang Puck Cafe? We love it there.

And we're also going to DTD one morning for a WPExpress breakfast.

YUM to both!!! And well worth the credits!!

We love DT Disney! As others have said WPE, EOS, & Ragalan Road are some of our favorite restaurants.. :)

I am really surpriSed by the responses! We have tried Wolfgang puck express and thought it was prob the worst food inndisney, until a couple of years later when after still reading lots of ppl saying Wolfgang pucks is nice we tried the sit down one, from then on that was the worst food we have ever had in Disney! Hubby's was cold, my sushi was about what would expect from my local petrol station or supermarket counter, 4 of us with 4 meals n all thought it was awful! I just don't get this place!!!
Raglan rd doesn't really appeal as we are from uk and can eat that kind of food all the time done better.
Have to say we do LOVE earl of sandwich and this is where we would eat if we went to dtd but it's not exactly value for money in terms if the dining plan, plusmeans using your TS credit in day n we aren't big enough eaters to manage a huge lunch.
I guess it's just different folks like someone said! P
To us the novelty of somewhere like trex or rainforest and the foodin house of blues is far too appealing to book the dining plan and have to miss out. :)

Consider giving Wolf Gang Puck's a second chance...it is a favorite for sooooo many....Plus, they hae the Express for quick service or the Cafe for table service...just a suggestion since I have not erad a bad review on the place before... :goodvibes

If you want to save your DDP credits for something else, you can get a restaurant.com certificate for House of Blues.

Just an FYI-- if you decide to do the dining plan, Earl of Sandwich is not a table service credit...it is a QS credit.

The dining plan does not work for everyone...looks like you folks would prefer restaurants that are not on the plan, so it probably would not be a good value for you anyway. Though they can be fun, at T-Rex & Rainforest you're paying for the theme and the decor. The food is mediocre.

We really love Raglan Road. It's one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. :goodvibes

you want to do T-Rex/Rainforest Cafe but nix WPE. WPE has absolutely TERRIFIC food as does the Cafe. We eat there every trip and have NEVER had a bad meal. I think either you need to check WPE/C again or maybe your tastebuds!!! (REALLY JUST KIDDING!!!) Rainforest Cafe is cute maybe the first time but I can't imagine going more than once esp w/out kids. Talk about mediocre food!!!!
