Why is the new merchandise so....ugly

All the fans of the original DVC logo (or at least one of the recognizable iterations), please put up your hands!

I have zero interest in the new merchandise. Lame, boring, more of the same.

I know I would like a chance to replace some of the original gear - there has to be more members that feel the same way.

Up until a few years ago we would buy DVC merchandise and refer people to the DVC. With all of the changes, restrictions, and what I consider a lack of respect to the members we no longer do so.

I like the more modern looking emblem. DH recently purchased a new shirt with the logo and it looks great.

What I don't understand is that there seems to be a third logo on new items. I don't really care for that logo. http://www.disneystore.com/tees-top...att=DcomM_Search_Organic_disney+vacation+club

This is pretty much all I've seen on the new merchandise. Not a big fan - it's hard to tell what it is. Not really sure that Mickey wth binoculars really screams "DVC". I haven't seen anyone wearing any of the new hats or shirts with this logo. I'm with you in liking the new "Mickey ear" globe logo and wish more of the clothing used that instead.

I like the old two mountain logo better (bought in during 1997 and they had already switched from three mountains to two mountains). But I hate the big, loud designs on the t-shirts and the awful fabric they use to make the t-shirts. I have OKW t-shirts from 1998 and 1999 that I still wear. The logo on the front is small where a pocket would be (one is embroidered). The one from 1998 does have a large graphic of OKW on the back, but it is nearly identical to the lithographs that they sell (and very light in color). I just want a white or purple t-shirt, large enough to not be tight and not stretchy (I'm old, I don't want form fitting shirts).

If they want to make things retro, retro back to those shirts in 1998 and 1999. But DVC didn't exist in the 50's so don't retro it back to the 50's. I grew up in the 50's and don't want to go back to those days. One reason I don't like Prime Time restaurant.

Well on the Disney site all they have is small and maybe one medium anyway, so I guess it's kind of a moot point. I can't buy one even if I do like it.

I was at the Beach Club Marketplace in late June, when several of the new clothing items were put on display. I did not care for any of the new t-shirts or the tank top. In years past, I purchased quite a bit of DVC clothing. Got nothing this time.

I did, however, buy the new navy blue Beach Club Resort t-shirt. Love it! :yay:

I'm not a fan of the planet Mickey logo, I prefer the mountains or even the one seen on the navy shirt in the link above. I think the ugly designs aren't just limited to DVC merch, I think a lot of the current Disney stuff is ugly. Maybe it's just my taste as a male baby boomer, but I don't see anybody wearing that stuff--either at the parks or at home.

I really like the new logo, it's more understated/simple. But, the merchandise they put it on and the colors don't impress me. What I'd really like is resort specific merchandise that isn't overly emblemed. Though, I find this issue with Disney merchandise in general. I find something I like, nice small logo over the pocket area and then I look at the back... BAM! Huge Mickey something or other covering the entire back.

Count me in as really, really NOT liking the new logo! It looks just like either the Disney Channel's logo or worse, like the ones on the WDW laundry trucks! In no way does it exemplify DVC to me. It was Jim Lewis' swan song to "change" everything IMO. One thing I loved about the old logo was that it was bright, colorful and LOOKED fun and festive. The new monotone nondescript design is a snooze. Even the signs for OKW are way worse. They used to have a very raised design on the resort signage with all the colors. It was 3 dimensional. Now? The sign looks like a high school shop class made it. Very, very 2 dimensional. Blehhh:crazy2:

I don't care for the Mouse Ear Logo at all. I was happier with the colorful original logos with the mountains & palm trees. The Tee-shirt from the link posted above is more interesting to me than the current Official Logo. I've always found the compass style graphics to be interesting even before this new disney version. I can't stand the nylon Golf shirts or thin materials they use for the tee-shirts these days.

It is about time that there is new merchandise. I bought the new dk blue shirt last week and a luggage tag. I also like the new Men's Polo but will wait till my next trip to buy.

We ordered 2 t-shirts with the Disney Chase extra discount they had before Fathers Day and got the extra DVC discount as well and DH said they really were not hot at all on our trip this past week. I was surprised as he complains about the material of whatever shirt we buy him.

I don't understand why there is merchandise at all? I already bought your product, why should I pay to advertise for you? Send me a free hat, shirt, or bag once in a while.

Having said that, I do like the resort logos that were in the last Disney Files magazine but not enough to buy a pillow covered in them. Where would I put it?

Didn't DVC used to send a gift to each member every year with their yearly paperwork, or am I crazy. I wasn't a member back then, but I remember hearing about it.

Hmm, Freediverdude. Been a member since mid '93 and I don't recall getting a free gift every year. Seems like at Christmas we got a frame able Christmas card done by the artist that did much of the original artwork found at OKW. Can't think of her name… That's the only "gift" I recall on an annual basis.

Ok, maybe I'm getting it mixed up with something else then. Middle age creeps up on you quick, lol.
